O Baiano Fantasma (1984)

O Baiano Fantasma (1984)
In this engaging drama of suspense and intrigue, Lambusca (José Dumont) is an innocent Brazilian from the northwestern region of the country who comes into Sao Paulo looking for work and finds trouble in the process. When Lambusca finally lands a job as a loan collector, he does not realize he is actually working for a local version of organized crime until one of his clients dies of a heart attack. That death puts Lambusca on the most-wanted list of the police, the mob, and some unsavory thugs -- all of them experienced enough to track down almost anyone. This film won the prize for "Best Film," "Best Director," and "Best Actor" at the 1984 Gramado Film Festival in Brazil. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
