Based on the acclaimed novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, Dexter is a crime drama about Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a man who leads a double life as an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Police Department and as an emotionless vigilante serial killer. Taught by his foster father (James Remar) to harness his lust for blood and killing, Dexter lives by his own strict moral code -- he only kills murderers who can't otherwise be brought to justice. The irony of Dexter's life is that he works closely as a blood splatter analyst with the very people who hunt his kind -- the homicide department. Dexter's "Regular Joe" front is in full force while working alongside the ill-tempered Sgt. James Doakes (Erik King), who seems to be the only one to sense Dexter's more sinister side; Lt. Maria LaGuerta (Lauren Velez), the head of the division; and Det. Angel Batista (David Zayas), whose similar attention to detail and taste for forensics almost mirrors his own. While his sister Debra Morgan (Jennifer Carpenter), a tough and determined cop, leans on Dexter for personal advice and career advancement, the person Dexter connects with most is his emotionally damaged girlfriend Rita (Julie Benz), who keeps him grounded. In 2007's Season 2, Dexter begins to doubt his murderous capabilities and continues to be haunted by his past. His difficulties multiply when evidence of his deadly after-hours activities begin to surface and the FBI is brought in to investigate the city's new serial killer dubbed the "Bay Harbor Butcher." The four-disc set contains all 12 Season 2 episodes that aired on cable network Showtime, along with extras such as a podcast, interview, and more.

Bones director Ernest R. Dickerson takes the helm for this episode of Showtime's Masters of Horror series concerning two morbidly curious teenagers who come face to face with the ultimate nightmare. Obsessed with the prospect of seeing a real dead body, two teenage boys break into a mortuary and prepare to stare death in the face. Their victimless crime yields unexpectedly horrific results, however, when a ferocious vampire (Michael Ironside) emerges from the darkness to feast on some fresh blood. Re-Animator star Jeffrey Combs assumes the guise of the most famous figure in gothic horror literature in director Stuart Gordon's adaptation of the classic Edgar Allan Poe story The Black Cat. It seems that as a literary figure, Poe is a man before his time, and when the dedicated writer fails to gain a following for his dark brand of poetry, his taste for spirits strengthens as his debts continue to mount. While his wife slowly succumbs to the wasting effects of consumption, her deranged pet feline bears witness to every excruciating moment, and Poe is soon driven to commit a grisly act of madness that will rival the darkest depths of even his most morbid prose. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The husband of a woman whose flesh has been so horribly charred that she is completely comatose but technically still alive is haunted by her violent apparition as he attempts to make the difficult decision whether or not to end her suffering in Wrong Turn director Rob Schmidt's contribution to season two of Showtime's Masters of Horror series. In medical terms, Abby may technically still be alive, though anyone unfortunate enough to have suffered such a grisly, fiery fate as she would most certainly wished they had died. Now, as Abby lies catatonic in her hospital bed, her guilt-ridden husband, Cliff (Martin Donovan), struggles to get the court order that will allow him to bring his wife's misery to a merciful end. Now, as Abby's condition begins to deteriorate, her vital signs continually flatline and doctors race to revive her each time. Though they are repeatedly successful in their efforts, each time Abby dies her apparition appears to lash out against those who appear to be taking advantage of her dire situation. A pregnant girl trapped in a woman's health clinic makes a disturbing discovery about the child growing inside of her while attempting to fight off her father and three heavily armed brothers in director John Carpenter's second Masters of Horror episode. A young couple is driving down a darkened country road when frightened Angelique (Caitlin Wachs) darts frantically into their headlights. Realizing that the young girl is terrified beyond consolation and shaken by the near accident she caused, the kindly couple informs Angelique that they are currently en route to a nearby clinic and would be happy to give her a ride. Shortly after arriving at the clinic with their young charge, however, Angelique's enraged father, Dwayne (Ron Perlman), arrives with two sons in tow and enough firepower to stage a small war.
