After the death of his journalist brother, the life of an ex-special forces soldier turned bodyguard changes dramatically. It becomes clear that his brother was murdered and those responsible for his death are very powerful people. He wants revenge and begins to hunt down and "liquidate" those responsible for his brother's death. In doing so, he uncovers a ring of corruption extending to the highest levels of society and government. As the liquidations continue, the powerful individuals involved become uneasy and hire the services of an international assassin known as the Silent Killer to neutralize him.
Writer/director Noel Clarke (Kidulthood, Adulthood) returns to the helm for this frenetic urban thriller following four friends who went their separate ways, but find their fates colliding following a chance meeting with a group of ruthless diamond thieves. Jo (Emma Roberts, Cassandra (Tasmin Egerton), Kerrys (Shanika Warren-Markland) and Shannon (Ophelia Lovibond) used to be inseparable, but lately they've begun to grow apart. As Jo struggles for a sense of direction while earning a meager income in a sterlile supermarket, Cassandra races off to New York for a fling with a guy she met online, militant feminist Kerrys wages an unrelenting war against a male dominated society, and Shannon falls into a treacherous, self-destructive tailspin. An alleged rape gets examined and reexamined in this low-budget thriller from Midwestern-based filmmaker Zack Parker. Margo Martindale (Justified) stars as Janice, the heavyset, middle-aged mother of Jakob (Adam Scarimbolo). He's a neurologically damaged mute who requires constant attention. When Janice makes the mistake of hiring an attractive college student named Paige (Hanna Hall) to look after Jakob, conflict erupts between the co-ed and her charge; a traumatized Paige claims that the enigmatic young man assaulted her, which leads to Jakob's incarceration and drives Janice to seek vengeance against Paige. A puzzling crime case is methodically worked out to a solution in this excellent suspense drama by director (and lead actor) Pietro Germi. Inspector Ingravallo (Germi) is charged with an investigation into the murder of the wife of Remo Banducci (Claudio Gora). The good inspector is only human, and he lets his instincts, as well as his personal feelings about people, guide him in his unraveling of the mystery. This technique makes for a close observation of interpersonal relationships, and they dominate the story. An act of violence has a powerful impact on the friendship of two young men in this independent drama. Qalli (Josiah Patkotak) and Aivaaq (Frank Qutuq Irelan) are two 17-year-old boys growing up in the Inupiaq community of Barrow, Alaska. While Barrow is at first glance an old-fashioned community cut off from major urban centers and a place where men still hunt seals and walruses to put food on the table, the town shows a few signs of big-city life; the teenagers like to race snowmobiles and listen to hip-hop, and there's also a growing crystal-meth problem. Qalli and Aivaaq have known each other since early childhood and are as close as siblings, but they come from very different households -- Qalli has a tight-knit family and has plans to attend college, while Aivaaq is the son of a single mom and has a pregnant girlfriend to look after. One day, Qalli sees Aivaaq in a fist fight with his friend James (John Miller); both are high on meth, and Aivaaq loses control and accidentally kills James. Rather than report the matter to the police, Aivaaq comes up with a plan to hide the body and let folks believe James has gone missing. Qalli agrees to help out of loyalty, but soon his guilt over the cover up begins to take a heavy toll. Hear No Evil, while based on the interesting premise of a deaf woman stalked by a relentless killer, is a well-crafted but predictable mystery thriller. Jillian (Marlee Matlin), a physical trainer is unknowingly given a valuable stolen coin. The theft of the coin was planned by a corrupt and sadistic police lieutenant (Martin Sheen) who needs the coin to fund his retirement, and he pursues Jillian in order to get it. Director Robert Greenwald, who also directed The Burning Bed, does a good job in showing the victim's courage and resourcefulness in her desperate situation. Matlin is good as Jillian, and does not use her deafness as a crutch to generate sympathy but portrays Jillian as an independent and strong woman. The plot gets bogged down with too many cliched twists and subplots, including a romance which slows the movie and adds nothing of interest in the development of the characters and their motivations. Hear No Evil, similar in theme to the excellent Wait Until Dark, lacks the focus and intensity necessary in a good thriller and wastes its excellent cast. ~ Linda Rasmussen, Rovi

But when Monique is killed by overzealous security guard Max (Danny Hoskins) while attempting to hold up a local bank, Arthur finds himself the sole guardian of their young daughter Maria (Zaira Crystal). Obsessed with seeing that Max pays for killing Monique, Arthur rents an apartment right above the one occupied by the security guard and his family, and bides his time waiting for the perfect moment to strike back.
