The title character of this Alex de la Iglesia film made her first appearance in David Lynch's Wild at Heart (1990) and was originally played by Isabella Rossellini. Rosie Perez takes over the role in this blend of black comedy, graphic sex and violence, voodoo, and weirdness. Perdita Durango is pure trash, a fact she establishes at the film's beginning. Her adventures begin when she hooks up with Romeo Dolorosa (Javier Bardem), a sleek, black-clad, sexually adventurous practitioner of Santeria who routinely kills, robs banks, and steals corpses from graves for his cannibalistic blood-soaked rituals. Santos (Don Stroud) is a pedophile and a crime boss. He hires Romeo to steal a truck filled with human fetuses that are slated to be used for cosmetic experiments. Romeo accepts but feels he must make a human sacrifice before he goes. This bothers Perdita not a bit and she even picks out a pair of blonde teens for the ritual killing. The two crooks kidnap the kids, ritually feather them, sexually abuse them, and are preparing to kill them when Romeo's cheated partner shows up with policemen. The crooks and their prey manage to escape, but the scheme to commandeer the truck gets botched and an ensuing shootout between Santos' men and DEA agents goes wrong. Santos loses many men and swears revenge upon Romeo and Perdita, who continue on their journey with their two doomed victims. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

A supernatural being known as "The Black Witch in the Project" is terrorizing some of the biggest names in rap music, and a number of performers fear for their lives -- so much so that The Street Don, an underground music tycoon, is offering a reward of $10 million to whoever can find and capture the witch. As The Street Don presents daily television reports on the witch's latest victims, everyone who can scare up the courage (and needs the money badly enough) hits the streets looking for the she-demon, while a number of rappers discuss their own horrifying encounters with the Black Witch. The Japanese TV reality game show "Slashers" pits six contestants against three costumed serial killers in a program that features actual deaths to the contestants as they flee the killers in a vast maze filled with obstacles. The last contestant alive wins a million-dollar jackpot. In this episode, the contestants are six Americans, including Megan (Sarah-Joslyn Crowder), who is using her appearance to protest the inhumanity of the program; Devon (Tony-Curtis Blondell), a former special ops soldier anxious for a big payday; and Brenda (Sofia de Medeiros), a beautiful model who doesn't know what she's gotten into until it's too late. When deadly meteorites start striking the calm, peaceful community of Berkeley, Australia, a ragtag group of strangers fight for their lives against a hoard of red-blooded zombies that have mysteriously infected the residents. While star Anna Faris returns for the third film in the Scary Movie series, the power behind the camera has shifted from the Wayans brothers to one of the Zucker brothers. The Zucker in question is David Zucker, and he's brought along his partner in movie-parody crime, Leslie Nielsen. This time around, aim is taken at such horror blockbusters as Signs and The Ring, while films of other genres, including Independence Day, 8 Mile, and The Matrix, are also lampooned. The plot finds Cindy (Faris) trying to help the president (Nielsen) thwart an alien attack while also facing crop circles and a mysterious video tape. Two decades after Angela Baker's bloody murder spree at Camp Arawak, Camp Manabe begins to experience a rash of killings that leads one of the owners to recall the gruesome horrors of the past. It's summer at Camp Manabe, and that means that the counselors are doing as little as possible to keep track of their young charges while the kids gleefully torment one another at every possible turn. But while self-serving camp owner Frank (Vincent Pastore) and junior partner Ronnie (Paul DeAngelo) strive to maintain some semblance of control over their campground, things suddenly take a terrifying turn for the worse when the mutilated corpses of young campers and counselors begin turning up all over the grounds. It's often said that the true character of a man is only revealed in times of dire crisis, and for likable, lovelorn loser Shaun (Simon Pegg), that moment of reckoning came when the dead rose from their slumber to feast on the flesh of the living. A hapless electronics store employee who spends most of his spare time downing pints at the local pub with his roommate, Ed (Nick Frost), Shaun's life seems to fall apart when he is dumped by his girlfriend, Liz (Kate Ashfield), and his obnoxious stepfather, Philip (Bill Nighy), shows up to berate him for not being more attentive to his caring mother Barbara (Penelope Wilton) -- especially since he forgot to send flowers for her birthday. This violent and shocking tale of horror from Japan concerns Satomi (Hitomi Miwa), who is one of three children being raised by a recent widow. Satomi's brother is accused by police of being a killer who has been chopping off the heads of innocent schoolgirls. Certain her sibling must be innocent of these charges, Satomi contacts a psychic in hopes of finding evidence which could clear his name; however, the medium demands a heavy price, and the consequences take Satomi to a strange and unexpected place. The horror film Skinned Deep begins when a family suffers a flat tire on a barren stretch of road with only a diner dotting the landscape. They meet Granny, the seemingly nice old woman who runs the establishment, but they soon find that she is the leader of a deranged clan. The family is slain, with the exception of their teenage daughter, Tina whom one of the sons in the family, Brain (a boy with an externalized brain much larger than his head), takes a romantic interest in. Soon a group of bikers show up, forcing the girl to figure out which group of crazies she should throw in with in order to stay alive. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

April Fool's Day just happens to be the birthday of rich college student Buffy (Deborah Foreman), so she invites a group of friends from Vassar over to her family's island getaway to spend the weekend partying. Though some practical-joke shenanigans on the ferry over from the mainland lead to unexpected bloodshed and put a damper on the festivities, Buffy unleashes a flood of more benign pranks on her guests, setting a tone of giddy abandon. With plenty of randy guys and gals on hand and no parental supervision, it isn't long before drunken escapades ensue. As the weekend progresses, however, guests begin to disappear mysteriously, and before long Buffy and friends find themselves huddling in terror in their remote getaway. The next ferry isn't due until Monday, and the partygoers aren't sure whether any of them will make it that long.
