If you watch the movie trailer that is available, they show all the best parts there and it will save you the torture of actually watching this movie. I knew it was going downhill as soon as I got a good look at the "romantic lead". I was not familiar with Bill Paxton and my first thought was "that guy look like he's in his 50's". I was close; he was 48 when this movie was made and far too old to have been a pilot in WW2. Those boys were in their 20's and considered old in their 30's. A good portion of the film is subtitles and the pilot's knowledge of French came and went throughout the film. There was zero chemistry between the characters and one very strange love scene. By the time I started fast-forwarding, I couldn't care less if these people were captured and killed. It would have made the film shorter.

This movie held my attention & I liked the acting, subtitles & all. I found the story disturbing though; infidelity between US WWII pilot Bill Paxton & a Belgian resistance fighter's wife, in his own home, where he provided shelter, while he was out risking his life for the allied cause. (shootings, grotesque hangings, sex scenes without nudity & pressuring a child to lie about it)
