In this direct-to-video horror outing, Ashley (Siri Baruc) is a troubled teenager who has been given to episodes of suicidal depression thanks to the cruel treatment she receives from her parents. Ashley runs away from home and tracks down her sister, Leslie (Leah Cairns), who runs a dance club on the outskirts of town with a handful of her friends. But Leslie and her pals are not typical club kids -- they've been transformed into "thralls," creatures who are half vampire and half human, by the evil Mr. Jones (Lorenzo Lamas), and the club exists in order to lure in hipsters to provide fresh blood. Frustrated by the fact they don't command the full powers of a vampire, Leslie and her friends have hatched a plot to move Mr. Jones out of the picture and become fully vested bloodsuckers, and when Ashley arrives, they decide to use her as part of their scheme. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
A modern-day Scrooge looking to make Christmas miserable for everyone around him receives an important lesson in the true meaning of the season in this contemporary re-telling of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. Jack Cameron (Tom Arnold) is a deeply embittered divorcee who has no time for the cheery, pink-cheeked trappings of Christmas. After taking note of Jack's decidedly glum opinion of the holiday season, the hard working Bureau of Yuletide Affairs dispatches the equally curmudgeonly Ghost of Christmas Past (Leslie Jordan) to give Jack a revealing look at the Christmas celebrations of yesteryear. When the ill-tempered specter absconds mid-mission and leaves Jack trapped in the past, it's up to the radiant Ghost of Christmas Present (Andrea Roth) to transport Jack back to the present where he truly belongs. Now, as Jack travels forward in time with the Ghost of Christmas Present, he finally sees the error of his ways and determines to save the future of the holiday he once so despised. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

The British children's series Chris Cross chronicled the comically anarchistic pranks of two troublesome schoolboys. Chris Hilton (Simon Fenton) and Oliver Cross (Eugene Byrd) were students at Stansfield Academy, a tradition-bound private school. Forever seeking out methods of undermining authority and wreaking havoc, Chris and Cross hatched all manner of schemes, from staging elaborate "escapes" for themselves and their classmates to clandestinely recording their own rock songs. Needless to say, the series was extremely popular with youngsters, far less so with grownups. Created by D.J. McHale and originally telecast on ITV from 1994 to 1995, the 13 25-minute Chris Cross episodes were later seen in America over the Showtime cable service. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Though not a true sequel to Paul Lynch's derivative slasher-dud Prom Night, this Carrie-flavored horror film begins in 1957 with the fiery death of bitchy prom queen Mary Lou Maloney (Lisa Schrage) courtesy of a backfired stinkbomb stunt pulled by her jealous ex-boyfriend. Thirty years later, her killer has become the school principal (Michael Ironside), and sweet, innocent Vicki (Wendy Lyon) is a contender for the prom-queen title. Mary Lou's vengeful spirit spies the perfect opportunity to reclaim her crown once and for all. The rest of the film involves Vicki adopting Mary Lou's less-than-reputable habits and messily destroying anyone who stands between her and the coveted title. High points include a telekinetic "Tutti Frutti" locker-room squashing and a swirling demonic blackboard, all courtesy of FX wizard Jim Doyle, who worked previously on A Nightmare on Elm Street, to which this film bears some stylistic similarities. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
