This action thriller from Hong Kong begins with Princess Rawleen (Mandy Moore) having to rush back home after her father (the king) dies unexpectedly and cannot finish a major deal with the U.S. Rawleen gets sidetracked when her jet is sabotaged, and she ends up at the mansion of a friend where she is kidnapped. The hero, a CIA agent named Jack Sargeant (Bruce Baron) sets out to find her with the help of the Dragon Force, an international, underground, crime-fighting unit headed by a karate expert (Bruce Li). The hapless Princess cannot become unkidnapped until the heroes have kicked and chopped the competition down to zero, a feat which takes up much of the 100-minute running time. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Martial arts star Bruce Li (aka Ho Chung-tao) stars as the legendary Bruce Lee in this dramatic biography which examines Lee's rise to fame and untimely death. Bruce Lee: A Dragon Story begins with Lee's years in the United States, as he teaches martial arts and eventually gets his big break on the television series The Green Hornet. Lee becomes a major star in Hong Kong, and becomes the greatest star in martial arts films, but his marriage hits a rough patch when he becomes involved with actress Betty Ting Pei, whom he was seeing at the time of his death. Bruce Lee: A Dragon Story was one of several unauthorized biographies of Bruce Lee that hit screens after the star's death in 1973, and Bruce Li was one of a handful of actors who sought to follow in his footsteps, including Bruce Lei, Bruce Le, and Bruce Leigh. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The third entry in the Street Fighter series found the filmmakers adding in James Bond style trickery to spice up the kung-fu formula. This time, Terry Tsugury (Chiba) is hired by the criminal Owada clan to rescue a pair of cassette tapes that contain a formula that would the cheap manufacture of heroin. Tsugury pulls it off successfully but when his employers to double-cross him, Tsugury takes off with the tapes. The criminals send a group of thugs after him, led by a laser-shooting mariachi known as Mr. Black (Black). With a little help from female government agent Kaho (Shiomi), Tsugury use his fighting skills and mastery of disguises to foil the Owada clan and their henchmen. In the process, he gets to the bottom of a drug conspiracy that involves both the criminal underworld and the local police. Star Sonny Chiba went on to several more kung-fu epics built around his tough-guy charisma and Sue Shiomi later starred in a Street Fighter series spinoff entitled Sister Streetfighter. ~ Donald Guarisco, Rovi

After the death of Bruce Lee in 1973, a slew of imitators invaded the world of the kung fu flick. One of the more well-known is Bruce Li (aka Ho Chung Tao), who continued making sequels and what one might charitably call homages well into the 1980s. Dynamo would, were it just another kung fu flick, rank somewhere in the middle of the pack; if the plot is strictly connect-the-dots, the fight scenes aren't bad, and there are plenty of them. (Though it should be noted that not all of the fight scenes are actually from this film, a move made presumably to lengthen the movie, which as it is clocks in at a paltry 81 minutes and barely sustains the plot even that long.) The premise--a Bruce Lee lookalike plucked from obscurity to make money for an advertising agency--is awkwardly ironic, and mention of Lee's recent demise early in the film doesn't help matters, although it's probably supposed to. When it is Li onscreen, he's actually fun to watch, and it's regrettable that his career is largely founded on imitating Bruce Lee. He tries, but largely lacks the latter's passionate intensity that was key to his star quality, and the result is a film that's a pale copy of the real thing. If you want to watch a Bruce Lee movie, then you might as well watch a Bruce Lee movie. ~ Genevieve Williams, Rovi
