Six high school graduates struggling to make it in the music industry discover the value of friendship and the power of unity in this uplifting musical drama. Chris, Gabby, Joey, Lisa, Wizzy, and Crystal all have the talent to succeed; they just aren't sure where to start. Chris is the driving force of the group, but ever since his father died he's been struggling to help his mother get out of debt. He doesn't want his friends to feel sorry for him, so he keeps his financial burdens a tightly sealed secret. One day, while performing at a local shopping mall, the group catches the attention of a powerful record label executive. But the label is only interested in Chris, and the executive offers him a lucrative signing deal that would solve all of his family's financial woes. When Chris accepts the deal, his friends think they've been betrayed and decide to start their own record label with the help of neighborhood newcomer Paulie. Later, the record label executives begin to alter Chris' music and appearance, and the disillusioned artist starts to miss his old friends. Everything changes when Joey finds out that the only reason Chris signed the deal was to get his mother out of debt, and when the old group reunites for a special concert, the sparks really begin to fly. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A handicapped teen gets tricked into unleashing the powers of darkness, and fights to drive the rampaging demons back into hell in this campy creature feature from Ted A. Bohus, writer/producer of the cult classic The Deadly Spawn. Confined to his home by the clunky leg braces he is forced to wear, 17 year old Bobby avoids his cruel parents and skanky sister by passing the days with the imaginary friends he summoned up from "Apocryphal Book of Tarkuhm" - a gift from his quirky Aunt Sadie. But Bobby is toying with forces beyond his control, and when the planets are aligned his diabolical friends reveal their true colors. In order to allow their master passage into our reality, they must convince Bobby to recite a portion of the book. Now, unless Bobby acts fast, a race of inner-dimensional demons will invade planet Earth, destroying everything and everyone in their infernal path. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Grandnephew of the famous mobster known as Tony Pro, Danny Provenzano is the co-writer, director, and star of the independent crime drama This Thing of Ours (the title is a literal translation of the crime organization La Cosa Nostra). Provenzano plays young mobster Nick Santini, who wishes to impress his Uncle Danny (Frank Vincent) and the other elders of a New Jersey mob. Nick plans a major bank heist with his old pal Robert Biaggio (Christian Maelen) and computer geek Austin Palermo (Louis Vanaria). Using a complicated Internet scam to distort a communications satellite, they plan to steal more than 50 million dollars. Nick is eventually stuck with having to choose between his friends and the mob when high-ranking Patsy DeGrazio (Michael DelGaizo) kidnaps Austin. This Thing of Ours also stars Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos), James Caan (The Godfather), and Pat Cooper (Analyze This). Incidentally, Provenzano was arresting in 1999 under a 44-count felony indictment that included charges of racketeering, kidnapping, and money laundering. He eventually pleaded guilty to racketeering and was scheduled to begin a ten-year prison sentence in August 2003, just weeks after his film is released. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi

This low-budget (very low budget) sci-fi comedy is about three aliens who land in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In order to blend in, they morph themselves to look like the local women. Unfortunately, most of the local women look like hookers, and the three of them are continually hit upon by nerdy teenage boys. ~ Brian Gusse, Rovi

Arthur Lindquist is The Regenerated Man in this tacky horror offering. Lindquist plays a scientist who has developed a serum that regenerates human flesh. Through a series of incredible plot complications, he's forced to drink the formula himself. As a result, he transforms into an insatiable, vampiric beast. Fortunately, he only targets criminals, but who knows how long he'll be so selective? This R-rated baby-scarer might have benefited from such intangibles as better writing, direction and acting. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Making optimum use of its limited budget, this intense, claustrophobic sci-fi/horror film involves the bizarre results of genetic experiments performed by Dr. Foster (George Gerard) for the head of the sinister Talos Corporation. When bitten by the spawn of one of the alien spores contained in the lab, Foster undergoes a horrific transformation and begins stalking anyone unfortunate enough to stray into the facility. This includes the daughter of the creature's first victim (Tara Leigh) and a hitman (Tony Gigante) hired by sleazy Talos director Dr. Viallini (Marcus Powell) to murder anyone privy to the project or its lethal outcome. Ultimately, the survivors must square off against the ever-mutating Foster/thing before it becomes unstoppable. Well-written and sporting some spectacular (and gross) monster effects, this ambitious effort began as a belated sequel to the shoestring cult classic The Deadly Spawn (aka Return of the Aliens). ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

A meteorite crashes to earth during a torrential thunderstorm, bringing with it a slimy, three-headed alien beast that craves human meat and gives birth to hundreds of eel-like spawn. The monster takes up residence in the basement of a family home, devouring the parents without anyone else's knowledge. The oldest son Pete (Michael Robert Coleman) is a science major in college, and his younger brother Charles (Charles George Hildebrandt) is a horror movie fanatic who loves to dress up like his favorite monsters and scare his visiting aunt and uncle. When an electrician arrives to check the fuse box, Charles follows him into the basement in costume for a little fun, but instead discovers the hideous alien and what's left of his mother's corpse. Meanwhile, two of Pete's friends come over for a study session, bringing along the remains of a dead alien spawn that they found on the side of the road. Baffled, they dissect it in an effort to establish its origin, but it seems to defy everything they've ever been taught in class. Their intellectual curiosity is abandoned when they find Pete's uncle being eaten by a swarm of alien spawn, and from there on it's a fight for survival against the monster. ~ Fred Beldin, Rovi
