A broken middle-aged man and an embittered high school escort enter into an agreement that will help both to ward-off loneliness if only for an hour in director Gorman Bechard's terse psychological drama. Daphne is a Yale-bound eighteen-year old whose depression has driven her to sell her body to the highest-paying stranger. She advertises her services online and views her service as an act of rebellion against a corrupt society. When Daphne's neighbor sees her performing at his nephew's bachelor party and threatens to make her hidden life a public affair, the skeptical escort reluctantly agrees to spend an hour with her blackmailer under the agreement that she will do any and everything that he commands. As the pair come together for their clandestine rendezvous, confrontation gives way to conversation as the bitter layers of disappointment and cynicism are peeled away in a revealing conversation about sex and desire. Ironically, as the needs and heartbreak of the troubled teen begin to paint a bleak portrait of desperation her neighbor does everything imaginable to test the limits of her advertised promise to fulfill even the most extreme and depraved sexual fantasies. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

In this independent romantic drama, Cara Thompson (Francoise Surel) is a young woman who has recently landed a job at a publishing house. Cara's job is to read manuscripts, most of which aren't very good, but by chance she runs across a novel which had been submitted 20 years before. Cara is struck by how good the manuscript is, but the love story has one significant flaw -- the novel has no ending. Over the objections of her boss (Illeana Douglas), Cara sets out to find the author, and discovers Philip Naudet (Terence Stamp), an aging man who gave up on his literary career years before. Can Cara persuade him to give his book an ending, and his life as an artist a second chance? The Kiss also stars Eliza Dushku and Billy Zane; leading lady Francoise Surel's performance earned her the Best Actress award at the 2003 San Diego Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

With a title like Assault Of The Killer Bimbos, the viewer gets pretty much what he or she would expect: a dumb-but-hip instant cult favorite that knows - and revels in - its limitations. Christina Whitaker and Elizabeth Kaitan are the two lead, er, bimbos, who are working as go-go dancers in a dead-end nightclub when their boss is murdered. When the two girls are accused of the crime, they hit the road for Mexico, picking up yet another bimbo along the way, along with three beach bums, and engaging in various adventures as they attempt to expose the real killers. First-time director Anita Rosenberg delivers a certain amount of wit, getting the most out of her low-rent cast, and the film's self-awareness goes a long way toward making it more palatable than one might expect. ~ Don Kaye, All Movie Guide

Joe (Carmine Capobianco) is a bartender and a psychotic killer who falls in love with the woman of his dreams in this horror comedy. Kate (Debi Thibeault) is a manicurist who shares Joe's penchant for committing gruesome murders. The two meet, fall in love, and make plans to combine forces in the murder of Nikki (Cecilia Wilde), a topless dancer in a local club. Stabbed repeatedly, the victim stays alive and spurts copious amounts of red corpuscles until Joe hits her in the head with a frying pan. When the garbage disposal breaks after being stuffed with too many body parts, the couple calls for the plumber Herman (Frank Stewart). Fortunately for Joe and Kate, Herman is a fellow psycho and cannibal who agrees to work for body parts. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

This is a probing tale set in turn of the century Japan, involving three people trapped in a complex relationship of love and friendship. Daisuke (Yusaku Matsuda) is supposed to be out looking for a respectable job and equally respectable wife. He is 30 years old and devotes his attention to music and literature; his family is wealthy and can support his interests. When his friend Hiraoka (Kaoru Kobayashi) returns with his wife Michiyo (Miwako Fujitani), problems arise. Hiraoka, not the best-tempered person in the world, has just lost his job. His wife Michiyo was once in love with Daisuke and when the two see each other again, their old feelings surface. Michiyo is not really happy in her marriage to Hiraoka, but Hiraoka, who condemns Daisuke's unwillingness to work, was once his best friend. Should Daisuke choose to keep Hiraoka's friendship and the respect of his society by ignoring Michiyo -- or rebel and go after her? ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
