Low-budget horror mogul J.R. Bookwalter (The Dead Next Door) directed this second sequel to the mildly successful Witchouse, another in his Tempe studio's productions for B-movie legend Charles Band's Full Moon Pictures. Cult favorite Brinke Stevens takes over the role of Lilith in this installment, which -- being shot on DV in Los Angeles -- represents more modest aims than the glossier 35mm look of the Romanian-lensed Witchouse 2. Like both of its predecessors, however, the film owes a lot to The Blair Witch Project, as Lilith is revived by a pair of documentary filmmakers (Debbie Rochon, Tina Krause) and their friend, an abused woman (Tanya Dempsey) seeking shelter from her past. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

Soon they all have a deeper problem to deal with. Jack Carlisle III, Robert Donavan, and Tanya Dempsey round out the cast of this film that was directed by David DeCoteau (Final Stab, The Brotherhood, Retro Puppet Master). ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

This Florida-lensed slasher silliness (not surprisingly produced by exploitation overlord Fred Olen Ray) is enlivened only slightly by posthumous cameos from John Carradine and Cameron Mitchell, as well as appearances from B-movie "Scream Queens" Linnea Quigley and Brinke Stevens. The plot is basically a riff on the standard Freddy Krueger-esque supernatural-maniac formula, only here the unstoppable psycho is merely a lumbering ghoul with a big pumpkin for a head, awakened from a cursed sleep on Halloween night by the usual handful of obnoxious teenage morons. Amid confusing flashback sequences and some phony occult blathering (courtesy of the town witch), we're told that Jack-O is the incarnation of a murdered farmer who has returned to avenge himself by taking a scythe to his killers' ancestors, but this particular pumpkinhead's people-reaping spree seems to cover a much broader swath, including a crop of nubile young things -- preferably just out of the shower, or fresh from a randy romp in the local cemetery. Even allowing for a certain camp appeal, there's not an original concept to be found amid the abundant nudity and severed limbs. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
- Starring:
- Linnea Quigley, Rebecca Wicks, (more)
Patty McCormack, so memorable as the evil, murderous little Rhoda Penmark in 1956's The Bad Seed, is outstanding in this unofficial "sequel" to that film. McCormack's "Mommy" is psychotically obsessed with her 12-year-old daughter Jessica Ann -- so much so that when she finds out Jessica didn't get the "Student of the Year" award again, she solves the problem by murdering the teacher who didn't recommend her for it. She dismisses the killing as inconsequential ("a minor accident"), but the homicide detective assigned to the case suspects her immediately, and an insurance investigator who also suspects her tries to get close to Jessica Ann to find out what really happened. ~ Brian Gusse, All Movie Guide

- Patty McCormack, Rachel Lemieux, (more)
