The Jacket director John Maybury adapts playwright Sharman MacDonald's account of the true-life relationships shared between Welsh poet Dylan Thomas; his wife, Caitlin; his lifelong friend Vera Phillips; and her husband, William Killick, in this biographical drama centering on the curious incident in which Thomas found his home turned into a war zone when Phillips and Killick attacked the abode with a machine gun and a grenade. Sienna Miller assumes the role of Dylan's wife, Caitlin, and Keira Knightley joins the cast as the trigger-happy Phillips in a film that not only reunites Knightley with Jacket director Maybury, but takes its cue from the play penned the Pirates of the Caribbean star's mother as well. Lindsay Lohan was originally tapped to play Caitlin, but dropped out due to contractual disagreements. Something of a cross-breed between American Idol and The Real World, this cable TV reality series drew its participants from five different cities: Miami, London, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and New York. Though the young ladies chosen were undeniably talented musically, it was the purpose of the series to instruct them in the intricacies of "diva behavior." To that end, the girls lived in the same penthouse apartment for two months, where they were drilled by such pop-artist experts as Patti LaBelle, Gloria Estefan, Lisa Stansfield, Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child, and the two surviving members of TLC. After a live talent showcase, the five semi-finalists were whittled down to three, with the viewers voting for the ultimate winner on the final episode. Swing is the story of working-class friends who escape their bleak Liverpool lives to launch a swing band. Martin (Hugo Speer) spends two years in jail for his brother. When he gets out, he is handed two years of unopened love letters and a piece of advice: get a job or end up back in jail. Nothing much has changed back home during his absence. His sax-playing cell-mate Jack is the only sage person to guide him. Martin decides to start his own band. He recruits bassist Buddy, a skirt-chasing football star and drummer, and Oi, an ex-skinhead. The brass section is made up of barflies who owe his dad a favor. But one person who can lead the band to success is the beautiful singer Joan (Lisa Stansfield), the love of Martin's life who is now married to Martin's arresting officer and is not sure if the band is another one of Martin's hopeless dreams. Martin convinces everyone that the dream is worth fighting for. Despite a raid by Joan's jealous husband, the band's gig is a success and a recording contract is on its way. Then the police find out that Martin's brother backed the band with stolen money. The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert features the surviving members of Queen (Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon) reuniting for a performance at Wembley Stadium in London on April 20, 1992, following the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1991. Songs include "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "The Show Must Go On," and "We Will Rock You." Features guest vocalists include David Bowie, Robert Plant, Annie Lennox, Elton John, and more.
