Javier Solis: El Senor de las Sombras documents the brief life and career of the popular Mexican actor and singer. Achieving the heights of fame and celebrity even though he began life as poor as one could imagine, Solis often acted in films that helped give hope to people that were in as difficult a place in their lives as he was before he became a success. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi
Former Green Beret Martin Fierro (Erik Estrada) is hired to kill the president of a mythical South American country in this thrilling political feature. The president was responsible for the death of Martin's father, the publisher of a left-wing newspaper. Sam Merrick (Robert Vaughn) is the CIA agent out to stop the killing to avoid further political chaos. Requisite car chases and gunplay are included, and the production quality along with Vaughn's performance help to overcome a thin storyline. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

- Erik Estrada, Robert Vaughn, (more)
The title Los Tres Calveras translates literally to "The Three Skeletons". This is the life story of the popular Mexican musical group The Skeleton Trio. Javier Solis, Luchia Villa, Jocquin Corderos are the principals in this tunefest. Though enjoying international success in 1960s, the Skeleton Trio remains comparatively little known in English-speaking countries. Within its 105 minute lifespan, this film does its laid-back best to broaden its subjects' appeal. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Mexican comic "El Clavillazo," otherwise known as Antonio Espino stars in this film by José Morales-Díaz, yet another comedy in which Clavillazo plays himself, not unusual for many comedians. The title could be understood as referring to the U.S. since anything "north" in Mexican parlance has that connotation -- and the story is a parody of a Western. Clavillazo takes on the role of a sharp-shooting outlaw in the vein of a Jesse James or similar legends from the wild West. The script is too weak to sustain the talents of the cast, which counts famous singer Javier Solis among its number. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
- Starring:
- El Clavillazo, Javier Solis, (more)
A few ostensibly ribald scenarios from this routine musical comedy by Rogelio A. Gonzalez might border on the offensive to some viewers. The trite storyline features three different men whose womanizing is concentrated on the many fairs held throughout Mexico at different times in the year. Each of the men has one particular lover at the site of each of the fairs, and the trio simply make the annual rounds, going from one "fair" lady to the next. The talent of popular stars Javier Solis and Alfredo Sadel is a plus though no one in the cast can overcome the script. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
- Starring:
- Julio Aldama, Olivia Michel, (more)
