Longtime television director David Grossman makes his feature debut with this direct-to-video sequel to the 1997 hit family comedy George of the Jungle. Filling the loincloth originally worn by Brendan Fraser, Chris Showerman plays George this time around. Since the events of the first film, George and Ursula (Julie Benz stepping in for Leslie Mann) have had a son and made a home for themselves in George's jungle kingdom. But George is suddenly called away by his brother Ape who has run up a substantial gambling debt in Las Vegas. Once back in America to help Ape, Ursula encounters Lyle Van de Groot (Thomas Haden Church, reprising his role from the first film) who is in cahoots with Ursula's disapproving mother. When Van de Groot puts her under a hypnotic spell, Ursula no longer recognizes George, just as her mother wants. If that weren't bad enough, while George is busy trying to help Ape and rescue Ursula, a lion is attempting to stage a coup back in the jungle. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

The pride of Frostbite Falls and Whatsamatta U's most famous alumni find their way onto the big screen (and the real world) in this comedy inspired by the popular cartoon series. Years after their TV show is cancelled, Rocky the Flying Squirrel (voice of June Foray) and Bullwinkle J. Moose (voice of Keith Scott) are barely getting by on residual checks; they're wondering what to do next when Fearless Leader (Robert De Niro), the evil genius of Pottsylvania, transforms himself from a cartoon into a living, breathing, nasty human being, thanks to the assistance of television executive Minnie Mogul (Janeane Garofalo). With the help of his newly flesh-and-blood henchmen Boris Badenov (Jason Alexander) and Natasha Fatale (Rene Russo), Fearless Leader plots to take over the world by using television to zombify people and then persuading the masses to elect him president. Can the daring flying squirrel and the well-meaning but not especially bright moose stop them? Unlike the TV show, which made a virtue of its unsophisticated animation, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle employs a technically sophisticated blend of computer-generated animated characters (Rocky and Bullwinkle) and live actors (Fearless Leader, Boris, and Natasha). Human beings making guest appearances include Randy Quaid, John Goodman, and Jonathan Winters. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Jay Ward's fondly-remembered cartoon series about a klutzy king of the jungle gets the big-screen, live-action treatment in this comedy from Walt Disney Pictures. A young boy named George becomes lost in the jungles of the African nation of Bukuvu following a plane crash, where he's rescued and raised to manhood by an articulate ape called Ape (voice of John Cleese). George grows to become a strapping adult (played by Brendan Fraser) who is cheerful and good-hearted but not terribly bright, not to mention his nasty habit of running into trees while swinging on vines from one part of the jungle to another. Ursula Stanhope (Leslie Mann), an heiress from San Francisco, travels to Bukuvu for a safari, both to satisfy her thirst for adventure and because she's trying to get away from the snooty Lyle Van Der Groot (Thomas Haden Church), whom she is engaged to marry even though she doesn't like him very much. Lyle follows Ursula to Bukuvu, hoping to catch up with her and locate the legendary White Ape of the Jungle; when Ursula becomes stranded and is rescued by George, Lyle is determined to rescue her from the savage ape man, even though George is a greater threat to himself than anyone else. George finds himself infatuated with the lovely Ursula, and he hopes to win her heart, even though he's a bit rusty on the particulars of the human courtship ritual (Ape tries to help by lending him a copy of "Coffee, Tea, or Me?"). We also get to meet George's faithful pet Shep, an elephant who seems to have gotten the idea that he's a Cocker Spaniel. Blaxploitation legend Richard Roundtree also appears as Bukuvu dignitary Kwame. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

In quite a few nations, the childhood experiences of a generation are epitomized by shared memories of favorite stories unique to that location. In Australia, Dorothy Wall's pre-World War II book about a koala bear known as "Blinky Bill" was one of those stories. This feature-length animated feature is based on those stories but departs significantly from Blinky's adventures as recounted in The Complete Adventures of Blinky Bill, perhaps to make it more suitable for very young viewers. In the story, Blinky gets separated from his mother when he is much too young to be out of the pouch (koalas are marsupials); he is hairless and pink. His many adventures with kangaroos, wombats, other koalas and platypuses reach their culmination when he must rescue his friend Nutsy from the too-great affections of a little girl, who is unable to understand why a live animal might not want to be treated like a stuffed teddy-bear. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

In this cartoon feature from Australia, a kindly but muddled grandmother tells her grandkids some classic fairy stories. However, she keeps getting things mixed up, and in her version of things, Cinderella has a number of adventures never spoken of elsewhere. For one thing, she has to dress up as Snow White in order to get to that famous ball she attended, and along the way has encounters with Pinocchio and the Three Little Pigs. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

Set in contemporary Australia, this hallucinatory drama is predicated on time displacement. University student Jackie Grenville (Tracey Tainsh), motoring through the rural region, suddenly finds herself in 1944. She witnesses a horrible murder, then is zapped back to the present. Retracing her steps, Jackie and her boyfriend Barry Norden (David Reyne) try to solve the mystery. They unearth an unexpected fortune--and a highly expected (to the audience, at any rate) crazed killer. Adding to the film's catalog of horror cliches is the local constabulary, who refuse to believe Jackie's story. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This is the sixth in a long series of successful "Dot" animated features, stories told by combining animation (Dot and friends) with live footage. In this story, Dot is out to save the whales, or at least a certain whale in particular. While playing along the beach one day, Dot and a dolphin friend come across a very unhappy whale named Tonga. Tonga has washed up ashore and is in mortal danger from the cruel whale-hunters, not to mention a greedy owner of a fish shop. Something has to be done to save Tonga, and as usual, Dot has a few ideas about how to do just that. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

In an entertaining and educational foray through the world of itty-bitty bugs, director Yoram Gross has succeeded again in his fifth "Dot" children's film. Once more, his skillful combination of animated figures and scenes from the real world are quite effective. This time Dot is accidentally reduced to the size of a small, teeny critter who has to fend for herself outside the house, as wasps, spiders, ants, beetles, and other denizens of the groundcover loom like the enormous predators they are. Dot is befriended by Keeto the Mosquito who talks like he walks with rhythm and.. well, rhyme. Butterwalk the Caterpillar is also of help, and between the two of them, Dot just might have a chance of regaining her normal little human stature. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

In another, successful installation of the Australian "Dot" series, a new animation style and improved coordination between the cartoon Dot and friends, and the real background landscape, add to the story's charm. This time around, the environment is threatened out in the Tasmanian wilderness. It seems Mayor Percy the pig wants to give the go-ahead to a huge hydroelectric project that would destroy the ecology, the trees, the animals, and bring in pollution as well. When Bruce the Koala and his friends fail to make any gains in fighting the project, they call in Dot. Between the clever young girl and the outback animals, there must be some way to save Mother Nature. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
