Add A Very Special Christmas: The 20th Anniversary Video Collection to QueueAdd A Very Special Christmas: The 20th Anniversary Video Collection to top of Queue
The 'Very Special Christmas' albums began appearing in the late 1980s. A series of yuletide-themed compilations that featured contemporary rock stars performing beloved Christmas songs (some secular, some not) the albums were recorded and issued to raise money for the Special Olympics. Volume One emerged in 1989, and by the holiday season of 2001-2, four sequels had been produced and issued. Now, the home video release A Very Special Christmas compiles some of the most memorable music videos and live performances of songs from those initial albums, with additional renditions of holiday tunes culled from the 1998 and 2000 Christmas at the White House specials. Performers include Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Wyclef Jean, Tracy Chapman, Jon Bon Jovi and many others. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Add Through the Years of Hip Hop, Vol. 1: Graffiti to QueueAdd Through the Years of Hip Hop, Vol. 1: Graffiti to top of Queue
Hip-Hop culture has always been about much more than just rap music; hip-hop embraced a number of vehicles of expression for youth in Urban America, and an integral part of the formative years of Hip-Hop was graffiti. As hip-hop culture grew, graffiti evolved from gang members "tagging" buildings to mark their territory to elaborate murals which often expressed the same issues of ghetto life reflected in rap music, as well as celebrating the hard-won joys of life in the inner city. Through the Years of Hip Hop, Vol. 1: Graffiti is a documentary which looks at the role of graffiti in hip-hop, and how it grew into a internationally recognized art form. The video also features videos for seven classic old-school hip-hop tracks, including hits by Run-DMC, Dana Dane, Queen Latifah, De La Soul, and Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

This video series profiles success stories of rock and roll artists who have risen from obscurity to popular acclaim. This segment features the work of such pop artists as Madonna, Michael Jackson, N.W.A., and Run-DMC. There is a look at the phenomenal career of Madonna. Her business savy and shrewd assessment of America's sexual mores have made her fabulously wealthy. Poking fun at the vestiges of Puritanic culture in America by singing suggestive lyrics and wearing outlandishly provocative clothes, she has won the admiration of some, the ire of others. Her iconoclastic attitude towards sexual repression has turned her into an icon herself. Michael Jackson, too, is portrayed in the film as a visionary, as well as a great entertainer. His androgynous appearance and forays into the outer limits of plastic surgery tell volumes about American culture and its future. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
