In this violent urban drama, an LA cop is deeply traumatized after he tries to save a child in a hostage situation and fails. He leaves the force and returns to his old gritty South Central neighborhood to help Rebecca Sanchez find her brother Carlos who has mysteriously disappeared shortly after a gang truce, between the African-American gang the Blades and the Latin Lords, begins disintegrating thanks to a number of drive-by shootings in either territory. The cop's investigation soon reveals that both gangs are being manipulated by a third party. Poor Carlos seems to hold the key and finds his life in grave danger. When the cop figures it all out, his life is also jeopardized. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Ghettoblaster immediately gets down to business with a frightening montage of urban gang violence. Richard Hatch plays Travis, a survivor of the ghetto who returns home to find that his "hood" is a hotbed of criminal activity (he didn't know this when he left?) Fortunately, Travis is more than a match for the punks who terrorize the local citizenry. He himself becomes a marked man when he falls in love with Gina (Diane Moser), the object of gang leader Jesus' (Del Zamora) affections. Before the film has run its course, Trask has become a one-man vigilante unit against the forces of evil, much to the dismay of ineffectual police officer and self-styled "champion of the people" Mike Henry (Richard Jaeckel). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

When powerful East L.A. drug lord Chesare (Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs) hosts a modern version of the gladiator games in which contemporary street gangs battle one and other to the death, his sworn enemy Aurelo (Tony Bravo) teams with his violent protégé Paulo (Kamar Reyes) to bring the sadistic criminal mastermind down in director Addison Randall's two-fisted action thriller. Chesare is the only man who holds power over L.A.'s most notorious street gangs, and to wield his might he devises a deadly series of games in which rival gang members will fight until only one is left standing. His reign is quickly coming to an end though, and when Aurelo and Paulo propose that the brutal battles be fought not to the death but to first blood instead, Chesare finally summons the courage to step into the ring and do battle with the one foe that could truly bring about is downfall. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Disco-gone-Latin, that's what's happening in Salsa, where a grease monkey who's sick and tired of knuckle-busting lives for his nights on the dance floor where he gyrates to the salsa beat. Not much plot but plenty of dancing is the fare here, as the lead guy (Robby Rosa) is out to show he's the Travolta of the Latino swing scene. ~ Rovi
