Jason Pai Piao Movies
Worse than the run-of-the-mill action film out of Hong Kong, this feature-length blood-and-gore film has a dispensable storyline and no character development but many scenes of graphic violence, car crashes, and gun battles. When three ex-cons rob a jewelry store, they kill a policeman and find themselves running from the law again. Meanwhile, a hitman kills off the leader of a drug cartel, and the police force is searching for him as well. Everything is settled in a massive gun battle at the end. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
- Starring:
- Jason Pai Piao, Lo Mang, (more)
Kuei Chi hung directs this grim kung-fu horror flick about two million taels worth of gold bars that are stolen from a royal treasure. Ambitious Manchu cop Leng (Chen Kuan-tai) leads a company of troops into the hinterland in search of the money. He discovers some clues in a remote abandoned temple. He also learns that his less-than-honest rival Fan Jin-diao (Jason Pai Piao) is also pursuing the same booty, but for his own private purse, not that of the emperor. As Leng finds that he is losing men left and right to late-night raids, he confronts the formidable bandit king Fang Feng-jia (Ku Feng) who is responsible for the theft. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi
A treasure hunt sparks the continuing violence in this Hong Kong action film, yet the film does not focus only on the violent nature of some of the characters. An enamored Ting Tien (Pai Piao) spends a cold winter's night waiting to spot the love of his life, Ling Shuang-hua (Szu Shih), when she makes her usual morning excursion onto her balcony. The theme of his love for her is treated with sensitivity, though his love does not affect the fate in store for both himself and the woman he worships. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

- Jason Pai Piao
The action sweeps non-stop through this martial arts film featuring Ti Lung as Teng Piao, a prisoner just released from jail and seeking revenge. Teng Piao was framed by a gangster known as the "Leopard" (he has a leopard tattoo on his chest, his only identifying feature). The trouble is, neither Teng Piao nor anyone else knows who the Leopard really is. At first, Teng Piao thinks that Tu Fu-chun (Liu Yung) is the guilty party, and the duo engage in a long series of fights, not necessarily with each other. Eventually, the real Leopard is tracked down -- and it turns out that Tu Fu-chun is after him as well. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Martial arts of all kinds dominate the proceedings in Passage of the Dragon. A humble village finds itself at the center of an ongoing blood feud. Innocent lives are sacrified as the two warring factions duel to the death. One of the advantages of films like Passage of the Dragon is that the action never lets up long enough to allow us to ponder the plot and dialogue deficiencies. One of the disadvantages is that the producers feel the need to bother with plot and dialogue in the first place. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Silver Fox (Hwang Jang Lee) runs an evil seet with the help of his henchman played by Jason Pai Piao. Beardy (Leung Ka Kan) is determined to defeat Silver Fox once and for all, leading to a showdown of Northern Kick vs. Southern Fist. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi
Chang Cheh spins this lightly comedic martial arts saga about Ying (Philip Kwok) and Chun (Lo Mang), two bored restaurant workers who long for a chance to use some of their formidable kung-fu skills. The two meet and soon become fast friends with Chu Tsai (Sun Chien), another martial arts master. Meanwhile, Pai Mei -- the treacherous priest responsible for the torching of the Shaolin temple -- and his henchmen kill such legendary figures as Chi San and Fong Sai-yuk, hoping to destroy the last vestiges of Shaolin. Pai then tracks down Hung Hei-kwun, injuring him. Ying, Chun, and Chu Tsai happen upon the fallen master and nurse him back to health. When Pai learns that his enemy is still alive, he rallies his thugs and plots an attack against the three friends. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi

When two convicts are released from prison, they are intent upon revenge. ~ Kristie Hassen, Rovi
Bruce Lee in his grave when this martial-arts effort made its premiere. Death of Bruce Lee is the mixture as before: speculation aplenty over the cause of Lee's death, coupled with the vows of several of Bruce's disciples to avenge his alleged murder. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
- Starring:
- Ron Van Clief
Upon arriving in Hong Kong, Ron Van Clief is victimized by ruthless drug dealers. In retribution, he teams with an undercover narc to thwart the villains. The film's "R" rating is indication enough that both heroes and villains play for keeps. Nancy Veronica supplies Black Dragon's much-needed female interest. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

- Ron Van Clief
When their father dies, two brothers square off to see who will collect on the inheritance. ~ John Bush, Rovi
