Determined to help the glassy-eyed Daniel (James Franco) pass his algebra test, Lindsay (Linda Cardellini) holds an impromptu study session at her house. Feeling a bit mentorly himself, Daniel decides to give Lindsay's sex-ed-frustrated brother Sam (John Daley) some lessons in the reproductive sciences, courtesy of a porno reel. When Lindsay's tutorial fails to take, however, Daniel resorts to his usual study method -- cheating -- and, fed up with her math teacher, Mr. Kowchevski (Steve Bannos), Lindsay aids and abets his delinqent ways with dire results. Meanwhile, Sam and the Geeks gather to watch their loaner stag film -- and the newfound carnal knowledge leaves each Geek with a wildly different impression of the opposite sex. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi
Though they're still working overtime to bring the magic back into their marriage, Paul and Jamie Buchman (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt) discover that it is more beneficial to sleep apart. Meanwhile, Ira (John Pankow) tries to turn his timorous employee Marvin (Jeff Garlin) into a pro wrestler. And yes, that's "Macho Man" Randy Savage, in the flesh and then some. ~ Rovi
It's the "Rush Limbaugh" episode, with the peppery right-wing radio host appearing as himself. In an effort to prove that she has enough "class" to be promoted to the position of Winfred-Louder's wardrobe buyer, Kate (Christa Miller) arranges a meeting with store owner Mrs. Louder (Nan Martin) at an elite salon--which Drew (Drew Carey) has set up in his own house. Alas, all hopes for promotion seem to be dashed when ultra-liberal Kate argues with ultra-conservative Mrs. Louder over the topic of free speech. It is up to "El Rushbo" (Limbaugh, that is), to show up as deux-ex-machina to resolve the argument--and will you be surprised by the way he does it! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
The morning after one of Drew's wild parties, a sexy handywoman named Sharon (Jenica Bergere in her first series appearance) is hired to repair the damage. Oswald (Diedrich Bader) and Lewis (Ryan Stiles) encourage Drew (Derw Carey) to ask Sharon out, but Kate (Christa Miller) is against this, worried that Drew would merely be dating on the rebound after his breakup with Nicki. Ultimately, Drew scurries all around his house to create more "business" (that is, more damage) so that Sharon will return again and again--a strategy resulting in a literal flood of consequences! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
Roseanne is depressed about Dan's affair. After she stays in bed for days eating junk food, her friends and family members try different ways to get her to snap out of it. Nancy (Sandra Bernhard) tries to lure her out of bed with crystals and New Age methods. Eventually, Roseanne comes out on her own with a decision about the diner. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi
During the Warsaw Tavern's traditional "Bust-a-Gut" night, Nicki (Kate Walsh) confesses that she used to be fat and now must watch her weight extremely carefully. Drew (Drew Carey) volunteers to support Nicki's dieting efforts by vowing to lose ten ponds--whereupon Mimi (Kathy Kinney) tells him to put his money where his mouth is. Trouble ensues when suspicions arise that Nicki lied to Drew about her weight problems just to pressure him into dieting--leading to a disillusioned Drew squaring off against a pig (a real one!) in a watermelon-eating contest. Meanwhile, Lewis (Ryan Stiles) is hosannahed as "Beer Boy" after plugging a leak in a gigantic Buzz Beer promotional mug. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
After winning the lottery, Dan acts strange around the house and with his friends. He doesn't watch Monday night football and starts fixing things around the house at odd hours of the night. When he finally reveals that his mother is in a psychiatric hospital, he and Roseanne make plans to take her to California to see a specialist. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi
"Past Imperfect," is part one of a two-part episode. Dan's father, Ed (Ned Beatty), isn't keeping up with his alimony payments. Meanwhile, Jackie doesn't appreciate Fred's (Michael O'Keefe) attitude about her sexual history. Incidentally, the waiter is played by Bob Nickman, a regular writer for Roseanne who would go on to write for Freaks and Geeks and The Drew Carey Show. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi
This black comedy chronicles the fall of one of the world's most unlovable clowns as he plies his trade and tries to survive in Palukaville a town where everyone is more or less a Bozo. Shakes loves women and more than that, he loves his booze. Like many of his painted peers, ol' Shakes likes to hang out at The Twisted Balloon, the favorite local pub where he hoists a few, beats up on mimes (the lowest caste in Palukaville) and causes trouble with his girl friend Judy, a woman who cannot say the letter "L." Because the slovenly Shakes can't seem to make it to birthday parties sober and on time, he is fired from his booking agency, causing him to go on a big drinking binge. Later, Shakes awakens and learns that Binky, a lousy TV-clown, is framing him for beating up Shake's former boss with a juggling pin. Now poor Shakes must clear his name. He must also rescue "Juwee" who has been kidnapped by the nefarious Binky, and he must come to grips with his alcohol problem (perhaps the film could be therefore titled "Clown and Sober?"). Keep an eye peeled for cameos by Robin Williams, as a mime instructor, and Florence Henderson as one of Shake's illicit sexual conquests. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
