Well, it's been a while since Alice (Linda Lavin) has quit her job in a huff, so this episode makes up for lost time. Unfazed by Alice's departure, Mel replaces her with a robot waitress named Blanche (whose body is portrayed by Mitchel Young Evans, while her voice is provided June Whitley Taylor). The mechanical miss proves to be so efficient and so popular with the customers that Mel may never hire Alice back--but remember, never in TV sitcom history has a machine been built that can't be tampered with! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
