A woman who unquestionably owes her dark, sensual allure to her Croatian ancestry, Canadian actress Stana Katic achieved fame with multi-episode appearances on the prime-time cop drama The Shield, the hit counterterrorism thriller 24, and the popular serial drama Heroes (as Hana Gitelman, a character who can wirelessly connect to and interact with the Internet using only her mind). In Season 2 of the superhero saga, the nascent heroes learn more about their similarly superpowered families and ancestors. Indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) and her family are forced to go into hiding in California in order to escape the clutches of the Company, an organization that tracks and captures superheroes. While her father, Noah (Jack Coleman), a former employee of the Company, insists she not do anything to attract attention, Claire finds herself attracted to a fellow student (Nicholas D'Agosto) with a superpowered secret of his own. After barely managing to avert a nuclear explosion in Season 1's finale, Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is presumed dead by his grieving family, only to awaken in Ireland with no idea who he is or how he got there. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) accidentally time travels to 17th-century feudal Japan, where he encounters his childhood hero, the legendary swordsman Takezo Kensei. But Hiro's joy is short-lived: He discovers that not only is Kensei a white foreigner (David Anders) living in Japan, but he's also a drunken coward who needs Hiro's help in order to achieve his destiny. Hiro eventually returns to the present and learns his father (George Takei) has been killed, the first in a series of murders of superheroes who had been active a generation ago. As the murders continue, it becomes clear that this killing spree is an act of revenge connected to a deadly virus that could spell disaster for humanity. Vic (Michael Chiklis) persuades an increasingly disgruntled Lem (Kenny Johnson) to help him convince Tavon (Brian J. White) that he hit Mara (Michele Hicks) during his fight with Shane (Walton Goggins), so that he'll agree to help them cover up the whole incident. The murder of a public defender opens up a case that could cause tremendous problems for the department, but Claudette (CCH Pounder) insists on following through, regardless of the consequences to her career. Mara (Michele Hicks) asks Shane to request a transfer, because she doesn't want Vic to be a part of their lives. The treasury department uncovers their mole, who reveals that the Armenians most recently asked for information about Vic, Lem, Shane, and Ronnie (David Rees Snell). With the Armenians hunting them, and his team unraveling, Vic decides to take the fight to them. A look into the Armenians' illegal gas business leads to a heroin operation that eventually leads them into deadly proximity with their old nemesis, Margos (Kurt Sutter, uncredited). Meanwhile, increased scrutiny on money laundering makes it impossible for the team to clean their stolen loot, and Lem grows increasingly worried about the Strike Team going down. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

As the finale of the third season of The Shield opens, Vic (Michael Chiklis), Shane (Walton Goggins), and Ronnie (David Rees Snell) are dealing with the consequences of Lem (Kenny Johnson) torching the money from the "Money Train" heist. Lem will no longer get a cut, but there's still not much left to go around for all the risk they took, and as Aceveda (Benito Martinez) explains, if Lem leaves the group, the police chief will not replace him, and the Strike Team will not have enough members to continue. The team also confirms that they're being targeted by the Armenian mob, and Vic decides to take matters into his own hands in his pursuit of Margos (Kurt Sutter, uncredited). Claudette (CCH Pounder) doggedly continues to pursue the case of the drugged-up public defender, despite getting pressured by Aceveda to drop it. That case, and Dutch's (Jay Karnes) continued interest in Vic's possible involvement with the Armenians, makes them a very unpopular pair at The Barn. Meanwhile, Danny (Catherine Dent) scores points with her handling of the case of a local business owner (André Benjamin of OutKast) who resorts to aggressive tactics in trying to get the drug dealers and prostitutes off his block. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide
