New York native Justine Bateman was 16 when she originated the role of Mallory, the eternally underachieving daughter of former student radicals Elyse (Meredith Baxter-Birney) and Steven Keaton (Michael Gross) on the TV sitcom Family Ties (1982-1989). Before the series ran its course, Bateman tried to parlay her TV popularity into feature-film fame. Unfortunately, Satisfaction (1988) utterly belied its title. Justine Bateman has since been steadily employed in such features as the stage-derived The Closer (1990), the low-budget horror item Deadbolt (1992), the political melodrama Primary Motive (1992) and the ensemble comedy The Night We Never Met (1993). An experimental, cross-species organ transplant causes a young security dispatcher to begin acting on his animal instincts in this curious take on the werewolf legend starring Cory Monteith and Justine Bateman. When Aaron Scates (Monteith) was blinded in an explosion, he thought he would never see again. When Aaron is placed under the care of Dr. Andrea Hewlitt (Bateman), however, it begins to appear as if there may be hope for his sense of sight after all. Renowned for her extraordinary yet controversial medical breakthroughs, Dr. Hewlitt is currently exploring the prospect of animal-to-human organ transplants. When museum curator Lydia Armstrong (Tinsel Korey) arrives at Dr. Hewlitt's office carrying a critically injured wolf, Dr. Hewlitt senses the perfect opportunity to finally put her theories to practice. But while Dr. Hewlitt does manage to successfully transplant the wolf's eyes to her desperate test subject, Lydia makes no secret of her objection to the operation. But when Aaron begins to crave raw steak and target people as prey, it becomes readily apparent that he's undergoing an unusual transformation. Writer/director Jake Kasdan's showbiz comedy The TV Set stars David Duchovny as Mike Klein, a television producer who in the beginning of the film successfully sells a network on a story idea. The film follows Klein as he must actually put the show together, navigate the corporate minefield of the network, and figure out what aspects of his show he is willing to compromise. Sigourney Weaver plays the demanding president of the network, Justine Bateman plays Klein's wife, and Judy Greer plays his manager. As the wife of fading Hollywood producer Kit Freers (Andrew McCarthy), children's book illustrator Holly Freers (Justine Bateman) would love to have some of the fame and fortune of her movie star neighbors rub off on her just once in a while. However, there is one aspect of living in Beverly Hills that Holly despises. Whereas she is deeply devoted to her daughter Chloe (Holliston Coleman), most of the wives in Holly's neighborhood regard their children as mere ornaments, treating motherhood more as a passing fad than as a blessing. This is especially true of Julia Prentice (Angie Everhart), the trophy wife of a popular sitcom star, who is gearing up to stage the baptism of her baby as a major media event. Nor is this the only reason that Holly resents Julia; it seems that the woman had once been Kit's lover. Thus, when Julia's corpse is found floating in the Freers' swimming pool, the police have two ready-made suspects -- and Holly suddenly becomes a celebrity, just like she always wanted...though she certainly didn't want it like this! This limited-run cable series starred Eric Stoltz as screenwriter Mark Colms and Felicity Huffman as his wife and writing partner, Lorna. While working on an inconsequential movie project, Mark began entertaining notions of cheating on his spouse for the first time in their 16-year marriage and dallying with either his next-door neighbor Annie (Justine Bateman) or sexy soccer mom Danni (Kim Dickens). Meanwhile, Lorna, who suffered from chemical depression, did her best to keep working though beclouded by booze and medication. The fine line between reality and fantasy was constantly blurred as Mark, who saw his life as a never-ending movie, addressed the audience (whom he referred to as his "jury") and went off on flights of illusion and delusion, much of it R-rated in nature. William H. Macy, husband of series co-star Huffman, played Lorna's erstwhile drinking partner, washed-up Hollywood producer Steven, while director Peter Bogdanovich was seen as Mark and Danni's obnoxious boss. Ben is looking for advice, but has trouble finding a sympathetic ear -- his sister Chelsea (Justine Bateman) is a divorce lawyer who mistakenly shot her husband and went in to work the next morning. Meanwhile, Melanie has to deal with her roommates, Mason and Catherine (Gil Bellows and Rya Kihlstedt), a married couple who have furiously loud arguments when they're not having furiously louder sex. An unhinged city dweller becomes a vigilante as he tries to protect a troubled teenager. The fellow is Ernest, who came to LA in search of his fortune and who ends up addicted to coke and managing a pornographic video store. When he makes an awkward play for the boss's daughter, he loses his job. Unable to deal with it, he becomes really unstable. He murders his drug dealer and then becomes friends with the teen Christiane who is trying to cope with a stepfather who molests her and a mother who doesn't care. Ernest takes Christiane away from home and then helps her try to find her long-lost sister. An updated but faithful remake of Roger Corman's 1959 exploitation favorite, this campy horror-comedy chronicles the deviant exploits of a coffee-house busboy whose dream of becoming a famous artist comes true after he accidentally stumbles upon a way to make eerily life-like statues. Directed by Michael James McDonald and executive produced by Corman, the story is adapted from Charles Griffiths' original script. As in the first story, this version takes place in a Venice Beach coffee house filled with quirky performance artists, and "alternative types" (originally beatniks). Anthony Michael Hall replaces the inimitable Dick Miller as the geeky busboy Walter. Two people fall in love without meeting -- and discover a wealth of complications when they try to get together -- in this romantic comedy. Even though he's about to be married, Brian McVeigh (Kevin Anderson) doesn't want to give up his old apartment, where he can swill beer, scarf pizza, and be as much of a slob as he wants. He decides to hold onto his flat as a weekend clubhouse, but he rents it out to other people during the week. Brian's new tenants, sharing the place on alternating days, are Sam (Matthew Broderick), an aspiring gourmet chef who's just been dumped by his spacey girlfriend Pastel (Jeanne Tripplehorn), and Ellen (Annabella Sciorra), who is stuck in an unhappy marriage and wants a place to work on her art. Ellen mistakenly assumes that Brian is the guy who leaves her gourmet snacks and admiring notes about how much he likes her paintings, and when she sets up a liaison with Brian, she wonders how the seemingly perfect man could be such a loser in person. After warming up with the basic routine, the video moves into an intermediate workout with Justine Bateman, which is a slightly more difficult version of the first section with the option of hand weights. Julianne Phillips leads the next part, which boosts the pace and skill level. Weights and a higher step can be used. Overall, the instructors' abilities vary, but the classes themselves are easy-to-follow classics.
