A tormented young writer with a once-promising career experiences an existential crisis that leads him down a nightmarish path of passion, deceit, and murder. John Hayson is a writer whose career was derailed by personal tragedy. Though there was once a time when John was struggling to meet multiple deadlines, these days he strains just to earn the occasional freelance job. As his lust for life fades and his worldview becomes increasingly cynical, John finds himself suddenly pulled back from the brink when he reconnects with his one and only true love. It was a guiding ray of sunlight in a pitch-black forest, and it was the one thing that should have given John the strength to get his life back on track. Suddenly, fate deals John a cruel hand when police single him out as the main suspect in a horrific murder. Now, as the police track him though the streets and darkness clouds his every thought, the anguished writer will be forced to choose between succumbing to his darkest desires or following the one beacon of hope that could prove his saving grace. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Much against her better judgment, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) accompanies Rory (Alexis Bledel) to the baby shower being held in Boston for Christopher's insufferable "ex" Sherry (Mädchen Amick). The Town Loner demands the right to hold a protest demonstration downtown, even though no one knows exactly what he's protesting. And Luke's (Scott Patterson) suspicions are aroused when Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) suddenly comes up with enough money to buy a car. Taking his cue from such 1970s horror classics as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977), animated rocker Rob Zombie goes celluloid with the throwback shocker House of 1000 Corpses. Running low on gas as they travel the highways of America in search of the ultimate roadside attraction, a group of teens pull into Captain Spaulding's (Sid Haig) museum of oddities (which also offers fried chicken and gasoline) only to become obsessed with uncovering the mystery of a legendary local maniac known only as Dr. Satan. When an attractive and mysterious hitchhiker subsequently offers to give the thrill seekers a personal tour of Dr. Satan's old stabbing grounds, a breakdown forces them to take refuge with a group of menacing oddballs as a fearsome storm rages outside. As the evening progresses and the backwoods hosts' Halloween festivities become ever more threatening, the teens soon realize that the legend of Dr. Satan may hold a bit more contemporary weight than any of them had previously thought. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

As Robert's girlfriend Sidney (Jennifer Joslyn) tries to help him through this rough patch in his life, on the other side of town a boy named Marcus (Gary Leroi Gray) is falling into a life of crime under the influence of his older brother Keith (Trent Cameron), who runs with a notorious street gang. Marcus picks up an old camera one day, and when Robert happens into his neighborhood by accident, he bumps into the boy and they have a conversation about photography. Robert begins bringing his own camera along as he visits Marcus, finding a powerful and inspiring subject in the decay of the inner city. He urges Marcus to use his art as a way out of the ghetto and a dead-end life, though Keith and his friends hardly welcome Robert as he tries to work his way into Marcus' life.
