A once-loving Chicago couple whose happily-ever-after quickly turned into a never-again finds their crumbling romance complicated when both parties refuse to move out of the pair's recently purchased condo. The Break-Up is a romantic comedy that starts where all the others end. The future once looked promising for thirtysomething couple Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn), but lately it seems like a series of increasingly petty and intolerable squabbles have snuffed any semblance of romance in their relationship. Their confrontation endlessly fueled by mean-spirited suggestions of revenge tactics from friends and family and their stubborn refusal to budge resulting in an excruciating stalemate, Brooke and Gary ultimately decide to spitefully stick it out as hostile roommates until the weaker party eventually admits defeat. As the competition to drive one another out grows increasingly intense and outrageous, however, Brooke eventually comes to the realization that she's not fighting for possession of the condominium as much as she is fighting to salvage her relationship with the man she once viewed as the love of her life. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

The whole truth concerning the "extracurricular activities" of über-mom Daisy Gibbons (Sharon Lawrence) has a disturbing effect on the ladies of Wisteria Lane -- not to mention some of the husbands. However, Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) can't be bothered with this crisis in the face of their ever-mounting debts. The director (Rob Cohen) and star (Vin Diesel) of the previous summer's hit The Fast and the Furious (2001) are reunited for this spy thriller billed as a next-generation James Bond adventure. Diesel stars as Xander Cage, a nihilist extreme sports enthusiast nicknamed "Triple X" because of a large tattoo covering his back and neck. Cage's illegal stunts and poor attitude (he's given to spouting dialogue such as, "Have you ever been punched in the face for talking too much?") land him in jail, where he's recruited/blackmailed into government service by the National Security Agency's Augustus Gibbons, who likes Cage for his skills and expendability. The new secret agent is assigned to infiltrate a Russian crime ring called Anarchy 99, whose access to biochemical weaponry is making the United States extremely nervous. With the help of some high-tech gadgets from weapons master Toby Lee Shavers (Michael Roof), Cage is able to make his way into Anarchy 99, where he targets the group's leader Yorgi (Marton Csokas) and falls for the organization's second-in-command, Yelena (Asia Argento). XXX (2002) is the first in a hoped-for franchise of sequels for the film's producer, Revolution Studios. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

After a five-year absence, Sherry Stringfield returns to ER in the role of Dr. Susan Lewis -- the same week that series regular Erik Palladino makes his farewell appearance as Dr. Dave Malucci. In Chicago to interview for a job at another hospital, Lewis drops into County General to see her former "crush" Greene (Anthony Edwards) -- and is offered a position in County's ER when Weaver (Laura Innes) fires one employee and kicks another one "downstairs." Naturally, Lewis welcomes the chance to come home -- but what will Greene's current spouse, Elizabeth (Alex Kingston), think? ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The first episode of season three finds Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) in a large city, waitressing in a diner under her middle name, Anne. She is depressed and heartbroken over the events that took place at the end of her junior year (see "Becoming, Part 1" and "Becoming, Part 2"). A homeless girl named Lily (Julia Lee), formerly Chantarelle, recognizes Buffy as the girl who saved her from vampires (see "Lie to Me"). Lily pleads for Buffy's help in finding her missing boyfriend, Ricky. Buffy reluctantly agrees and soon finds the preternatuarlly aged corpse of Ricky, along with other old people, bewildered and homeless. Her investigation leads to a seemingly innocuous blood bank that just so happens to moonlight as a portal to a demon dimension. Buffy and Lily unintentionally enter the demon world -- where teens are slave workers and a day in our time is years in the demon world. Meanwhile, back in Sunnydale, Willow (Alyson Hannigan) is overjoyed to discover that Oz (Seth Green) is the smartest senior ever forced to repeat a grade. Buffy's friends also act as interim slayers until she returns. ~ All Movie Guide

While going through a manuscript from a prestigious author, junior book editor Erin Garman (Tracy Middendorf cannot help but notice similarities between the book's plot and her own life: It seems that, as a child, she was kidnapped, and still cannot recall the particulars of the situation. As Erin pursues the matter, she finds that the police have no intention of re-opening the case. Jessica (Angela Lansbury) comes to the girl's aid when the intrigues surrounding her long-ago abduction lead to suicide and murder. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Robert Torti makes his first appearance as Jay Clemens, an old junior-high-school buddy of Drew (Drew Carey), Oswald (Diedrich Bader) and Lewis (Ryan Stiles). Having been preoccupied with her love life for several weeks, Katy (Christa Miller) shows up at Drew's house only to find that her place in "the gang" has apparently been usurped by Jay in her absence. The ensuing friction threatens to wreak havoc at Drew's upcoming birthday party--and if that weren't enough plot development, we're also confronted with a surprise guest appearance by pro basketball star Dave Winfield (he just came for the food, folks!) ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

With store employee Nora threatening to sue Drew (Drew Carey) for creating a "hostile workplace" by posting a harmlessly ribald newspaper cartoon, Winfred-Louder's attorneys Fenn and Geller (played, appropriately, by magicians Penn & Teller) pressure Drew to settle the suit out of court. When our hero refuses, Kate (Christa Miller) recommends that he hire her slimy ex-boyfriend Brad (Christopher Darga) as his lawyer. Ultimately, however, Drew chooses to represent himself in court--and we're going to refrain from making that "fool for a client" crack, even though it's true. Meanwhile, Oswald (Diedrich Bader) finds himself attracted to the promiscuous Peaches (Julie McCullough), who's already gone on record with her case of the hots for Drew! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In the conclusion of a two-part story, Al (Ed O'Neill holds firm to his policy of banning nursing moms from Gary's Shoe Store. In order to discourage all female patronage, Al stocks the store with manly-man shoes and other icons of machismo. But his scheme is foiled when the long-unseen "Gary" makes a very surprising appearance. Cybill Shepherd stars in this heart-tugging drama as a mother whose baby was abducted out of his bed. Fifteen years pass and she is working as a middle-school teacher in a different town.
