Steve-O Movies
A fearless stuntman with an outrageous sense of humor and few inhibitions, Jackass and Wildboyz star Steve-O (born Stephen Glover) got his first taste of fame when, at the tender age of 15, he swiped his father's video camera with the singular goal of capturing the most dangerous skateboarding stunts possible and sharing them with his stunned friends. Though little has changed since he laid the groundwork for his death-defying future, Steve-O has since gone on to earn a commendable keep for his unique talents as a featured performer in both film and television.A London native who attended high school in England before seeking higher education at the University of Miami, Steve-O quickly learned that college was not for him and soon set his sights on making a living in stuntwork. A trip to Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College followed when the determined performer failed to find his footing as a professional risk-taker, and in the years that followed, Steve-O would find steady work in both the circus and on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Of course, Steve-O's video camera was always rolling to capture whatever mayhem might occur both at sea and on terra firma, with a constant stream of videos sent to anyone who would watch them, eventually catching the attention of Big Brother Magazine editor Jeff Tremaine. With Jackass looming on the horizon, Steve-O's persistence was finally about to pay off.
An instant hit when it premiered on MTV in 2000, Jackass proved just the career catalyst Steve-O had been searching for. Though some of his stunts would ultimately be rejected by producers for fear of being too dangerous, an undaunted Steve-O stunned fans by producing Don't Try This at Home, a special release featuring all the stunts that were too hot for television. A trip to the silver screen in 2002's Jackass: The Movie showcased even more outrageous insanity, with additional appearances in such late-night talk shows as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Howard Stern Show, and Jimmy Kimmel Live providing even more exposure. A year after Jackass went off the air in 2002, Steve-O could be seen taking his strange antics into nature for the Jackass-meets-National Geographic television series Wildboyz (also starring Jackass veteran Chris Pontius), and in 2006 his career in front of the camera seemed to be cemented with appearances in the Darby Crash biopic What We Do Is Secret, the inevitable Jackass: Number Two, and as Jesus Christ himself in TV: The Movie. Steve-O next starred in yet another reality series to showcase his stunts in 2007, employing his antics under the premise of helping people with their problems in Dr. Steve-O. Then in 2008, Steve-O surprised fans and critics alike with a change of pace, joining the cast of ABC's Dancing with the Stars. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Born Juan Martinez, J-Swift is a hip-hop producer and DJ who rose to fame through is work with the group the Pharside, one of the most critically acclaimed rap acts of the Nineties. While J-Swift's work was well respected, by the end of the decade there was little demand for his talents, and as his career hit a dry spell, the producer turned to drugs. J-Swift's addiction to crack cocaine had a ruinous effect on his life and work, and ten years after becoming one of the most promising talents in hip-hop, he was broke and homeless. A filmmaker approached J-Swift with the idea of creating a reality television series about him as the producer struggled to get clean and re-launch himself with a solo album under the name Negro Knievel; however, the presence of the camera only made the difficult process of recovery more agonizing for him. 1 More Hit is a documentary which explores J-Swift's struggle with addiction as he tries to start his life and career over again, as well as taking a glance at the dirty secret of drug abuse within hip hop. 1 More Hit received its world premiere at the 2007 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A spinoff of the outrageous stunt series Jackass, Dr. Steve-O was a vehicle for the earlier show's daredevil veterinarian (real name: Steven Glover). Dedicated to the proposition of "de-wussifying" the men of America, Dr. Steve-O travelled across the country in his tricked-out ambulance (orginally a camper van in the pilot episode), searching for wimps, nerds, geeks and couch potatoes to rescue from a dismal future. Descending upon these sorry examples of manhood (who'd been selected to appear on the show by their friends and loved ones), Steve-O and his well-endowed nurse Trishelle Cannatella embarked upon an intensified program of attitude adjustment, showing unmanly men how to overcome such problems as bullying bosses and nervousness around the opposite sex by submitting themselves to silly stunts and public embarrassments. Each episode was divided into three phases: "Initiation Treatment", "Personal Procedure" and "Group Therapy." Those who survived the treatment to become a "real man" were given a clean bill of health--which Dr. Steve-O usually stapled to the guy's chest. Also appearing was Reggie Pace as Steve-O's fearsome-looking chauffeur and general factotum. Dr. Steve-O joined the USA Network family of reality series on October 1, 2007. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In his 1961 speech to the National Association of Broadcasters Newton Minnow claimed that television had become a "vast wasteland," and with this comedy the warped folks at National Lampoon prove that Minnow's so-called "vast wasteland" has since been flooded by a festering cesspool of filth and depravity. Absolutely nothing is sacred as Jackass stars Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Preston Lacy, and Jason "Wee Man" Acuna skewer small screen conventions by targeting everything from reality television to talk shows. For viewers looking to find out just how far the bar has been lowered, who better to turn to than the satirical minds at National Lampoon? ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Fearless Jackass and Viva La Bam stars Ryan Dunn and Don Vito team up to headline a cross-country tour fueled by mind-blowing stunts, audience participation, and hardcore punk rock, and cameras roll to capture every outrageous moment. Appearances by such bands as Fight Paris, Disengage, and Open Hand keep the energy up while fellow Jackass Steve-O drops by for a shocking special guest appearance. When a small riot erupts in the peaceful city of Montreal, fans know well that Dunn and company are up to their old shenanigans. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
For fans who thought the stakes couldn't be raised any higher and the bar couldn't be lowered any further, the original cast and crew of the stunt comedy sensation that swept the globe return for another round of jaw-dropping feats that are guaranteed to have viewers wincing through their laughter. Frank (Val Kilmer) wakes up in a small town in the New Mexico desert with a severe head wound and most of his memory wiped away. Jackass veterans Chris Pontius and Steve-O continue spanning the globe to seek out gullible animals with which to perform daffy and dangerous stunts as the gross-me-out reality series Wildboyz goes on. This year's adventures begin in India, where Chris and Steve-O sleep on a bed of nails, try their hand at snake charming, and wrestle sloth bears. Later, they head to Brazil to find out if it's true what they say about electric eels. (Ouch! It's true! Ow! Ow! Ow!) The boys' onetime Jackass cohort Jason "Wee Man" Acuna joins them in Kenya, to find out just how much a hippo can thrash, while Steve-O gulps down a cup of cow's blood; and in another African jaunt, "Wee Man" plays with a poisonous scorpion. Then there's that stopover in Costa Rica, where our heroes invite a water-walking lizard to a "Jesus Party." The season's final episode takes us to Indonesia, where another Jackass alumnus, Johnny Knoxville, challenges a Komodo dragon to a jousting duel. Oh well...better them than us.... ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Join Jason "Wee Man" Acuna and Laban Pheidias as they carve a swath of chaos through the heartland of America in this look at the wilder side of life that makes Jackass look like Candid Camera. Playfully laying waste to anyone and anything that stands in their path, Acuna and Pheidias prove that idiocy is certainly not a lost art form by combining skateboarding and stupidity with predictably hilarious results. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
From the creators of Jackass came another gross-out hodgepodge of wild, crazy, and idiotic stunts titled Wildboyz. The hosts of this unreal reality series were former Jackass regulars Chris Pontius and Steve-O (aka Stephen Otis). These two likable jerks traveled all over the world to spread the own dubious brand of "American culture" to other peoples. Yeah, right. Actually they hopped from country to country performing dangerous and dimwitted stunts involving animals -- with the animals getting all the best of it. From swimming with sharks to zapping one another with electric eels to swiping cookies from rattlesnakes, Chris and Steve-O would do anything for a laugh, even if it killed them ("No such luck," one can hear the series' critics muttering under their breath). Occasionally joining the hosts in their puerile perambulations were their Jackass colleagues Johnny Knoxville, Manny Puig, and Jason "Wee Man" Acuna. Wildboyz was first inflicted on the public on November 2, 2003, courtesy of MTV. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Hosts Chris Pontius and Steve-O offer their own peculiar slant to the TV travelogue-cum-reality series in the first season of the zany, delightfully disgusting stunt show Wildboyz. The opening episode is a typical blend of the dangerous and doltish, as our two heroes are seen swimming with sharks, streaking with ostriches and playing football with hyenas. Later, it's off to Alaska, where Chris and Steve-O endeavor to feed a bear using only their, er, nether regions. The boys' former Jackass cohort Johnny Knoxville shows up in an episode taped in Florida, where the duo filch cookies from a rattlesnake. And don't miss their journey "down under," when they test the strength of giant clams in Australia and disguise themselves as sheep to flush out predators in New Zealand. Remember, kids: don't try this at home -- or anywhere else! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Johnny Knoxville and his crew of fun-loving masochists bring their routines to the big screen in this feature adaptation of the popular but controversial MTV series Jackass. A crew of young men perform a variety of strange, painful, and often humiliating stunts for the amusement of themselves and those around them, including crawling across dozens of mousetraps while wearing rodent make-up, being rolled down bowling lanes on skateboards, racing in golf carts across an ancient driving range, giving themselves self-inflicted paper cuts, making snow cones out of urine, tightrope walking over live alligators, using uninstalled sanitary plumbing in a hardware store, terrifying Japanese pedestrians while wearing panda costumes, and much, much more. Johnny Knoxville, the show's creator and star, returns to head up this movie version of Jackass, along with series regulars Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Chris Pontius, Steve-O, Dave England, Jason "Wee Man" Acuna, Preston Lacy, Ehren McGhehey, and Brandon DiCamillo; Henry Rollins, Tony Hawk, and Spike Jonze are among the movie's guest stars. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
