Starring Michelle Borth, Alex Feldman, and Jon Ada, the low-budget, direct-to-video thriller Trespassers opens with a series of twentysomethings -- Colin and his freewheeling, hard-driving surf buddies -- jetting toward Baja in their convertible, heading out to meet Colin's long-estranged brother for a weekend of wild parties and wild waves. But a string of wrong turns and dead ends causes the group to get lost en route to the beach, and propels them into a series of bizarre encounters with the freakish locals. When a retired physician performs a miraculous feat that catches the attention of two curious medical students, their attempts to discover the secret behind the doctor's unique abilities yields a horrifying discovery. A pair of escaped juvenile delinquents discovers that missionary life is just as restrictive as life in their state-sponsored correctional facility after posing as Mormon missionaries to elude detection in director Rodney Henson's religious-themed comedy. Justin (Brandon Beemer) and Ty (Ty Hodges) are two rebellious teens who just can't seem to grasp the concept of authority. Shortly after making a successful escape from their Mojave Desert detention center run by the overzealous General Wilkins (Charles Napier), the pair's perfect escape plan hits a snag when their car dies at a remote rest stop where Mormon missionaries Elder Talbot (Shaun Weiss) and Elder Johnson (Jason Winer) are taking a break before heading to their next assignment in nearby New Harmony. Soon swapping their military fatigues for Mormon missionary duds, Justin and Ty hit the road in their new car assured that the authorities will never suspect their true identities. Though they were correct in their assumption, the one thing that Justin and Ty never expected was to be offered a police escort to New Harmony -- where the ultra-religious locals have big plans for their newly arrived guests. Two men search for an emotional center to their lives and become embroiled in a circle of drugs, prostitution, deception, and blackmail in this independently produced feature. Adapted for the screen by Matt Swan from his off-Broadway play, Mr. Smith Gets a Hustler opens with its titular conceit: Middle-aged businessman Mr. Smith (Larry Pine) leaves his comfortable suburban home for Manhattan's Lower West Side one night to hire male prostitute Bobby Blue (Alex Feldman). Once they get to the hotel room, however, Bobby is surprised to find that Mr. Smith would rather talk than have sex with him, and the pair continue to meet -- for a fee -- for philosophical conversations about their home lives and futures, or lack thereof. But when Bobby starts forgoing his other tricks in favor of spending time with Mr. Smith, his pimp Lapp (Benjamin Hendrickson) becomes suspicious, and Bobby and Mr. Smith find themselves the focus of an inordinate -- and inordinately dangerous -- amount of scrutiny. ~ Michael Hastings, All Movie Guide
