A pair of escaped juvenile delinquents discovers that missionary life is just as restrictive as life in their state-sponsored correctional facility after posing as Mormon missionaries to elude detection in director Rodney Henson's religious-themed comedy. Justin (Brandon Beemer) and Ty (Ty Hodges) are two rebellious teens who just can't seem to grasp the concept of authority. Shortly after making a successful escape from their Mojave Desert detention center run by the overzealous General Wilkins (Charles Napier), the pair's perfect escape plan hits a snag when their car dies at a remote rest stop where Mormon missionaries Elder Talbot (Shaun Weiss) and Elder Johnson (Jason Winer) are taking a break before heading to their next assignment in nearby New Harmony. Soon swapping their military fatigues for Mormon missionary duds, Justin and Ty hit the road in their new car assured that the authorities will never suspect their true identities. Though they were correct in their assumption, the one thing that Justin and Ty never expected was to be offered a police escort to New Harmony -- where the ultra-religious locals have big plans for their newly arrived guests. Now stuck in a town where the lights go out at ten, the alarm goes off at six, and God's word is the law, these two identity-thieving delinquents are eventually forced to choose between living a life of lies or finally coming clean about their shady past. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Created by Tim Maile and Douglas Tuber, the half-hour animated series Phil of the Future was originally titled The Out of Timers. This weekly effort chronicled the misadventures of the Diffys, a family from the year 2121 who had been inadvertently thrust back to 2004 thanks to a malfunctioning rented time machine. The titular Phil Diffy was a 15-year-old high school freshman (he'd been originally conceived as 12-year-old, but there were too many 12-year-olds on cartoon series as it was). Regarded as normal by 22nd century standards, Phil found himself a misfit as he attended school in his adopted 21st-century home town of Pickford, the eternal target of bullies and wise guys who found his futuristic patois to be "weird." Fortunately, Phil could always count upon the support of his best friend Keely Teslow, the only person who knew that the Diffys were from another time. Other characters included Phil's dad Lloyd, whose 22nd century inventions and gadgets always managed to get the family into trouble; Phil's mom Barbara, part-human, part-robot; his kid sister Pim, given to emitting bizarre noises; and Debbie Berwick, "Teacher's Pet" and Pim's best pal. One of the most popular offerings of cable's Disney Channel, Phil of the Future debuted June 18, 2004. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Monica (Courteney Cox) is turned off by Chandler's (Matthew Perry) phony "work laugh," figuring that anyone who has to work that hard to pretend that he thinks something is funny is nothing more than a suck-up at the office. Meanwhile, Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) pretends that she knows nothing about Monica and Chandler's relationship. And Ross (David Schwimmer) tries to console himself over the impending marriage of his ex-wife Emily by going out with the annoying Janice (Maggie Wheeler) -- who by now is less annoying than annoyed. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
In this spoofy horror outing from veteran genre director Brian Yuzna, L.A. Law vet Corbin Bernsen plays Dr. Feinstone, an anal-retentive Beverly Hills dentist with an amusement park of an office replete with Planet Hollywood-worthy, themed exam rooms, piped-in opera music, and a crisp, efficient staff. When Feinstone finds out that his lovely wife, Brooke (Linda Hoffman), is fellating the pool boy, he becomes unhinged -- haunted by visions of filthy mouths and faithless spouses. Inviting Brooke back to the office on their anniversary and begging her to indulge him in his hobby of cleaning her teeth, Feinstone performs a little unorthodox oral surgery and soon uses his now-disfigured sweetie to lure her boyfriend into a backyard trap. Revenge doesn't cure Feinstone's homicidal urges, however, and soon his violence and sexual obsessions spill over into his practice -- especially after creepy IRS investigator Marvin Goldblum (Earl Boen) shows up for a little "I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine." Soon, patients and staff members alike are interacting with drills and laughing gas in ways they never expected. Filmed for, and originally shown on, HBO, The Dentist did not receive a U.S. theatrical release. Yuzna, Bernsen, and Hoffman reunited two years later for The Dentist II: Brace Yourself. ~ Brian J.
