Walter (Kent Andersson) is a retired sailor and former boxer who meets a 13-year-old prostitute and drug addict (Ulrika Hansson) in this symbolic action drama. Moved by her plight, he complains to the local police about the problem of child prostitution and drug dealing in the area. When they do nothing to stop the problem, Walter recruits Carina (Eva Britt Strandberg), a veteran hooker with a heart of gold (or course) to track down the gangleaders who force the young girls into sexual slavery and drug addiction. In a farce that starts out galloping but then stumbles and essentially collapses, a few crooks end up cheating other crooks as the story bobbles along between Sweden and Cuba. First a sleazy used-car salesman cons an innocent hair stylist into buying a wreck of a car. Next, the stylist's crooked brother gets out of prison and decides to fleece the car dealer in turn. The real Rakenstam, the subject of this fictional treatment of his life from 1942-1945 before his imprisonment, had romantic liaisons with hundreds of women over a three-year period and managed to scam large amounts of money from 120 of them, thriving off each one and somehow managing to make each believe she was the only woman in his life. He was 42 at the time he started these exploits, and even after he was caught because of a blackmailer, the women not only refused to sue him, but they filled his jail cell with roses. Bouts of violence alternate with meandering dialogue in this routine drama about conflicts between militarists and a variety of evil characters, and a female journalist and her pilot friend, both defending the remnants of democracy. The setting is Sweden at some point in the future, when terrorists and environmentalists are active and the government is trying to control all energy sources. Politics and crime cross paths in this action drama in which the police are attempting to capture alive the murderer of a police official who grievously abused his power. The official was murdered in his hospital bed, and his murderer's identity is carefully uncovered by painstaking police work. Maria is a single mother living alone with her son Magnus. When ex-con Leffe charms his way into their lives, he consistently does daring and stupid things, and is not likely to remain out of prison for long. Maria's long-time friend/boyfriend tries to help Leffe out, as do all those involved with him. Soon enough, he has to return to prison, cheerful, and not one bit wiser.
