A simple affair proves to be anything but when a London advertising director realizes that his latest lover is also his newest client in director Ian Poitier's gay romantic comedy. Bright and talented Jonathan (Christopher Colquhoun) was at a black tie award party when he first locked eyes with handsome American David (Stephen Billington), and before the night was over they were both heading back to Jonathan's posh London flat for a passionate late night tryst. The next morning, when Jonathan's nine year old daughter bounds into the bedroom, it quickly becomes apparent that this isn't your average one night stand. The stakes are raised even higher when Jonathan returns to the office on Monday morning to discover that David is the company's top new client. Sleeping with clients is a big no-no at the firm where Jonathan works, and over the course of the next few days the hapless advertising director scrambles to reverse any damage that may have been done before he and David were aware of their professional relationship. But by attempting to sever his ties with David, Jonathan inadvertently draws his handsome lover into a playful game of one-upmanship. Now for each attempt they take at outwitting one another, their mutual attraction only grows stronger. Will Jonathan prove capable of keeping his lover and his career, or will he finally be forced to choose between his heart and his head? ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

The director of Mortal Kombat (1995) adapts another popular video game for the big screen with this gory action thriller. Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez star as Alice and Rain, two members of a commando team assigned to infiltrate the Hive, an underground research laboratory owned by the faceless conglomerate known as the Umbrella Corporation. A bio-engineered virus has been released into the maze-like Hive, turning the facility's employees into mindless, flesh-eating zombies. A single scratch or bite from one of these rampaging ghouls dooms its victim, so the commandos have their work cut out for them as they attempt to reach the Red Queen, the lab's supercomputer -- and their sole hope of halting the spread of the contagion. Before they can complete their mission, however, the soldiers must overcome a variety of deadly obstacles, including mutant dogs, lasers, and a genetically altered beast known as The Licker, whose strength increases with every victim it slays. Alice and Rain also discover that the release of the virus may not have been an accident, and that a cure may exist somewhere in the deadly Hive. Resident Evil co-stars Eric Mabius, James Purefoy, Martin Crewes, and Colin Salmon. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

A mournful look at the last days of opera diva Maria Callas, director Franco Zeffirelli's biographical drama attempts to explore the irresistible allure of a comeback for a fallen star who hungers for the success of her past. Weathered from the excess of the previous decade and with her best performances long behind her, Callas (Fanny Ardant) withdraws to her Paris apartment to live her final days in seclusion. Despite being ravaged by a throat disease and being stuck in an extended period of mourning following the death of her true love, Callas' manager Larry Kelly (Jeremy Irons) nevertheless suggests that the former reigning queen of opera attempt a spectacular comeback. Though she is physically unable to perform the pieces the way that she once did, the suggestion to lip-sync to recordings of her previous performances offers a tentative chance for latter day fame. Despite her belief that lip-syncing her performance would be dishonest to her fans, the prospect of performing Carmen, an opera that she once recorded but never performed on stage, offers Callas one last shot at reliving her former glory. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
