While Rory (Alexis Bledel) is in Rome with her grandmother Emily (Kelly Bishop), her mother Lorelai (Lauren Graham) reluctantly relays a message from Rory to Dean (Jared Padalecki) -- a letter intercepted by Dean's jealous wife Lindsay (Arielle Kebbel). The big day has finally arrived: Xander (Nicholas Brendon) and Anya (Emma Caulfield) are getting married. The obstacles on their path to wedded bliss include atrocious bridesmaid's dresses, a stubborn cumberbund, and bitter sniping from the alcoholic Harris clan about the "circus freaks" (aka demons) who make up Anya's half of the wedding party. During the preparations, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has a wistful encounter with Spike (James Marsters), whose cheap floozie of a wedding date causes pangs of jealousy even as the Slayer resolves to keep their relationship in the past tense. As for Anya, her dreams of wedded bliss soon also recede into memory when Xander disappears from the chapel. It seems the prospective groom has received a visit from his time-traveling, elderly self, who shows Xander a vision of the future in which his marriage ends in bitterness and murder. Later, when old-man Xander turns out to be a disguised enemy of Anya seeking revenge against the former vengeance demon, Xander still can't overcome his conviction that he isn't ready to get married. The guests riot, the absentee groom checks into a hotel, and the jilted bride turns to D'Hoffryn (Andy Umberger), her former demon master, for comfort. Victor Nuñez's Coastlines centers on Sonny (Timothy Olyphant), who is returning home after his release from prison. When he asks for money owed to him by local crime boss Fred Vance (William Forsythe), Vance responds by blowing up Sonny's home (causing the death of Sonny's father). Sonny moves in with old friends Dave and Ann (Josh Brolin and Sarah Wynter), even though Dave is now a policeman. Ann, who has grown bored by her husband's conversion from wild man to cop, begins an affair with Sonny. Nuñez wrote this script before his breakthrough films Ruby in Paradise and Ulee's Gold, but directed it after making those movies. Although her parents Charlie (Gary Cole) and Kate (Gary Cole) are out of touch with modern technology, 13-year-old Sarah Radcliff (Evan Rachel Wood) is an experienced internet surfer. But Sarah is still a child, with a child's innate curiosity. When her parents take away her computer privileges when she accidently taps into a porn website, Sarah begins seeking answers to her questions about sex at a cyber-café managed by angel Andrew (John Dye), who has been assigned to help patch up the differences between Sarah and her folks. The episode takes a sinister turn when Sarah naively strikes up a cyberspace friendship with a person who identifies himself as a 16-year-old boy--but is actually a middle-aged sexual predator!
