Bam Margera Movies
Though his talent on the skateboard is undeniable, thrasher-turned-prankster foul king Bam Margera has gained more notoriety for tormenting his long-suffering family and friends on national television than for his curb grinding skills. As a member of the bodily-fluid-obsessed Jackass crew, Margera's unhinged antics nearly topped that of fellow headliner Johnny Knoxville with his similar themed CKY series (named after his brother Jess' band, Camp Kill Yourself). CKY made Knoxville's MTV-friendly creation look absolutely tame by comparison. Born Brandon Cole Margera in West Chester, PN, it didn't take long for the energetic youngster to take to skateboarding. Armed with a video camera, Margera and his friends began videotaping their extreme pranks and unpredictable antics for posterity in their early teens. Though no one would have guessed at the time that those videos would have such an influence on the entertainment industry. They were eventually culled together to form the ongoing CKY series -- a somewhat more crude precursor to MTV's phenomenally successful series Jackass. A high point came when the latter was turned into a number one box-office hit in the fall of 2002, though by the time the movie hit theaters, the show had run its course and hopes for a sequel remained high. Margera soon stepped into the spotlight for MTV's Viva La Bam, a series which proudly carried the Jackass torch, sans Knoxville. Utilizing funds gained from Jackass, Margera next stepped behind the camera to direct the movie Haggard, based on a true story concerning partner-in-crime Ryan Dunn's notoriously unfaithful former girlfriend. The unhinged comedy features performances by such familiar faces as Chris Raab, Brandon Dicamillo, and legendary pro-skater Tony Hawk. In 2006 the Jackass crew got back together to make the pointedly titled Jackass: Number Two, featuring more painful stunts and bizarre practical jokes. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Professional skateboarder and incorrigible jokester Bam Margera continues humiliating his real-life family, tossing such values as taste and decorum into the dumpster, and performing dangerous stunts (NO! NO! WE TOLD YOU NOT TO TRY THESE AT HOME!) as the MTV "prank show"Viva la Bam enters its fifth season. Things get off to a rousing star as Bam and the family recall their top five favorite moments from past episodes during a chaotic camping trip. Other episodes dwell upon the prickly relationship between Bam and his uncle Don Vito (aka Vincent Margeta), who in one instance spends several days in Brazil with no idea where he really is. Fellow skater Bob Burnquist appears in that particular episode, while Billy Idol makes a surprise appearance on the occasion of mom April Margera's birthday. Elsewhere, a drag race is postponed when Bam's beloved Lamborgini "mysteriously" disappears; and Bam's pal Raab Himself (aka Chris Raab) heads to Latvia to latch up with a Russian mail-order bride. And for the benefit of those who think that Bam has it all his own way on the series, Uncle Vito exacts sweet revenge on his nephew for past humiliations--and he does it two, count 'em, two times! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This year's festivities begin as Bam and his pals magnanimously escort Phil and April on a trip to Paris for their wedding anniversary -- without telling the couple that their every move is going to be followed and tape recorded. Later on, Bam tries to pay for all the damages incurred by getting a job, but there may not be much of a future in pulling a rickshaw. Even a warm-hearted hugging contest takes on sinister dimensions with good ol' Bam involved. It just can't get any worse, it can't. Oh, yes it can...and it's a guaranteed laugh riot! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Season two of the outrageous "all in the family" stunt show Viva La Bam begins as Bam Margera responds to complaints from his constantly humiliated parents Phil and April by finding them a new house -- but not before ruining most of the furniture and the fixtures in the old house. Next up, the heavy metal group Slayer forces their way into the Margera household, prompting Bam and his buddies to scour the city in search of easy girls as eligible dates. Then, dad Phil is made an unwilling contestant in the first "Fat Boy Face-Off," which requires him to survive the "Slobstacle Course" and a moronic game show. The two-part Mardi Gras episode finds Bam making trouble in the company of several famous skateboarders, among them Tony Hawk and Donny Barley. Arbor Day is celebrated as Bam knocks down one of the trees in his folks' backyard and establishes a treetop casino, replete with a "Battle Royale" wrestling match to sucker in the customers. And in the season finale, Bam squanders the family savings to buy four broken-down used cars and stage his own demolition derby. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

What humiliations and outrages are awaiting the parents of zany stuntmeister Bam Margera during the third season of Viva La Bam? Well, for starters, Bam sets up yet another private skate park, this time in his parent's driveway, then decorates the park with worthless junk borrowed from the homes of celebrities like Tommy Lee and Jack Osbourne. Bam's hapless dad and mom Phil and April are in for more trouble when their son and his buddies buy a bunch of potato guns and stage a messy reenactment of the Civil War. Bam's Jackass mentor Johnny Knoxville shows up in a later episode to inaugurate a prank war in which no prisoners are taken and no feelings are spared (even Sean Penn joins in on the fun). Just when it seems that Bam is going to make up for all the damage inflicted on his parents' home and sensibilities, he reneges on his promise to put dad Phil and mom April on a cruise ship that is safely docked near dry land, but instead casts them adrift on the high seas! The season finale is an episode titled "Bamiature Golf." Draw your own conclusions. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A spin-off of the sleazily satirical stunt series Jackass, Viva La Bam was built around the talents of the earlier series' supporting player Bam Margera, as himself. Unlike its predecessor, Viva La Bam was less concerned with the dangerous and harmful stunts performed by the host than it was with the humiliations heaped upon Bam Margera's real life mother and father, Phil and April Margera. Forever coming up with "helpful" ideas around the house, Bam and his coconspirators made Phil and April's lives miserable. After all, how would you deal with a son who turned your house into a skating park, or who stole household items to stage a scavenger hunt, or who forced you to go without food for 24 hours, or who staged a "Fat Boy Face-Off" with you as one of the contestants? Kids...can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em. Also featured were the star's uncle Vincent Margera (aka "Don Vito") and his real-life cronies Ryan Dunn, Brandon DiCamillo, Chris Raab, and Rake Yohn. Viva La Bam may have looked spontaneous and ad libbed, but each episode was painstakingly scripted and rehearsed, with the long-suffering members of the Margera family (who didn't look as though they were really having that awful of a time) well compensated for their efforts. The series made its MTV bow on October 26, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Before teaming up with Johnny Knoxville on MTV's Jackass, daredevil goofballs Bam Margera and Raab Himself made names for themselves as part of Camp Kill Yourself, better known as simply CKY. Along with several skateboarding clips and comedy sketches, CKY Trilogy, Round 2 features an array of stunts, including Raab defecating from atop a four story building after consuming 18 laxatives and Bam roughing up his father, Phil Margera. This is the follow-up to CKY Trilogy, Round 1. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

The parents of former Jackass regular Bam Margera endure a heap of hilarious humiliation during season one of the savagely satirical stunt show Viva La Bam. To get things rolling, Bam deliberately provokes the anger of his dad Phil by installing a fireman's pole in the house...in the middle of the night. And, for good measure, he transforms Casa Margera into a skate park. Next up, Bam invites the singing group Turbonegro for an in-house rock concert, while poor Phil is forced to go without food for 24 hours. Had enough? Well, Bam sure hasn't, as witnessed by the drawbridge and moat he constructs outside the house to accommodate a family reunion. Even Bam's efforts to give his parents a special wedding anniversary result in considerable pain and discomfort for Bam's dad Phil and mom April, with a Russian mail-order bride and a tacky tuxedo adding to the festivities. At least April is able to exact revenge on her darling boy -- but not before she had been hoodwinked into thinking her house has been blown up! The season finale is the infamous scavenger hunt, wherein all the Margeras, plus Bam's reprobate friends, speed around town in crummy used cars to locate such items as a "hot chick in lingerie," a bee sting, a cow's autograph, a fresh pile of road kill, and an edible worm. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
