Although he has had tremendous influence on the world of jazz, few music fans know of Tal Farlow, who has played with such greats as Red Norvo, Charles Mingus, and Artie Shaw. Gibson even named a guitar after him. In this instructional guitar video, Farlow reveals some of the tricks and secrets behind his consummate guitar skill. He demonstrates tritones, playing in flat keys, and many other techniques. Both right- and left-hand methods are depicted with split screen and close-ups so that the viewer can see the exact hand positions. ~ Alice Day, Rovi

Not to be confused with the American folk song-oriented series of the same name, Hootenanny was the Wednesday-afternoon component of the daily CBC "strip" Music Hop. The series featured a talented seven-member vocal group, each of whom was given his or her moment to shine whenever time permitted. The series was produced at the network's Winnipeg facilities, the home of many an other low-budget but high-quality songfest. The Canadian Hootenany was seen from September 30, 1964 to June 23, 1965. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
