Susan Ward Movies
Widely known for her role on NBC's prime-time series Sunset Beach, Susan Ward actually began her career as a model long before she was an actress. Born on April 15, 1976, she was raised in Monroe, LA, and signed with the Ford modeling agency in New York when she was just 13. The huge-eyed, beautiful blonde would be published in a lot of print work while spending time between New York and Louisiana as a teenager. Acting lessons would come along as well, although after high school Ward decided to continue with her formal education. She attended Northeast Louisiana University as a psychology major for one full year before deciding to turn her attention again back to her show business career. Before her network stardom on Sunset Beach, she had other dramatic television roles, beginning with a part on the daytime series All My Children. In 1996, she had a starring role on the short-lived Aaron Spelling teen series Malibu Shores, featuring Keri Russell. Ward also made appearances on episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess, The X Show, and Men, Women, and Dogs. In 1997, she broke into the big-screen world with a small part in Poison Ivy: The New Seduction. She then starred in her first feature in 2000's The In Crowd, a creepy and dramatic teen thriller. Mainstream cinema experience continued with supporting roles in comedies like the Farrelly brothers' Shallow Hal starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black, and also in the role of Wendy in Going Greek, both in 2001. Perhaps finding more resilience as an actor in comedy, she would make a major motion-picture splash in 2002 starring in Tom Sheppard's Would I Lie to You? ~ Sarah Sloboda, All Movie Guide

Dirty deeds among the rich, poor, and generally unscrupulous have come back into style in this direct-to-video sequel to the hit Wild Things. Niles Dunlap, a wealthy but less than honest businessman, dies unexpectedly in a light plane accident, and his teenaged step-daughter, Brittney Havers (Susan Ward), figures she's a shoo-in to inherit his fortune; however, Brittney discovers that Niles's will stipulates that his 40-million-dollar estate is to go to a charitable foundation unless a "blood heir" can be produced. Enter Maya King (Leila Arcieri), a schoolmate of Brittney's, who claims that she's Dunlap's illegitimate daughter -- according to Maya, her mother worked as a maid for the Dunlap family, and Maya was born after her mother was seduced by Niles. Meanwhile, Terence Bridge (Isaiah Washington) is an insurance investigator whose job is to hang in the balance. A man who wants a woman who will love him for him looks for ladies while posing as someone else in this comedy. Paul (Brad Rowe) is a millionaire who made a fortune in the technology industry, and now is looking for the woman with whom he can share his life. However, Paul is afraid that lots of women will be more interested in his bankbook than his personality, so he begins posing as a working stiff named Ernest in hopes of finding someone who won't be after his money. Paul meets Olivia (Susan Ward) while posing as Ernest, but when he falls in love with her and wants to get serious, she's not so sure she trusts Paul after spending time with his altar ego. Meanwhile, Guy (Jonathan Penner) is a con man who learns about Paul's scheme, and begins making the rounds as Ernest himself, luring a beautiful blonde named Sophie (Samaire Armstrong) in the process. Jack Black continues his march to stardom with this typical Farrelly brothers blend of broad comedy and a heartfelt message. Black is Hal Larsen, a shallow man rapidly approaching middle age whose superficiality can be attributed to his father's deathbed admonition to only date young, beautiful women. Hal and his best friend, Mauricio (Jason Alexander), have taken the advice to heart, but Hal finds all of his physically impressive girlfriends consistently lacking in other qualities that would make them ideal mates. When he bumps into self-help guru Tony Robbins (playing himself), the motivational entrepreneur is intrigued by Hal's predicament and hypnotizes him so that he'll only see the inner beauty of women. Hal is quickly smitten with Rosemary Shanahan (Gwyneth Paltrow), a blonde Peace Corps volunteer who's tenderhearted, funny, and intelligent. She is also gorgeous and meets Hal's basic criteria of outer perfection, but what he doesn't realize is that Robbins' spell is working and he cannot see that Rosemary actually weights 300 pounds. When Mauricio is finally able to snap Hal out of his charmed state, Hal's in love with the inwardly perfect woman and must overcome his obsession with beauty. The script for Shallow Hal (2001) was developed when Peter Farrelly enjoyed the humorous letters written to a mutual friend by Sean Moynihan, a computer software executive who followed the filmmaker's advice to take up screenwriting. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

A young woman gets a startling perspective on how the other half lives in this teen-oriented thriller. Adrien Williams (Lori Heuring) is a troubled working-class college student who on the advice of her doctor takes a summer job at a posh country club. Brittany Foster (Susan Ward) is one of a group of wealthy students who while away their summer break with nighttime parties and days at the beach. Brittany takes a liking to Adrien and introduces her to her social circle, to the displeasure of her close friend Kelly (Laurie Fortier). Adrien also gets to know Matt Curtis (Matthew Settle), a tennis pro with whom Brittany is infatuated; when Adrien and Matt begin a relationship, Adrien learns the hard way that the rich kids can quickly turn vengeful and deadly. This third installment in the meretricious Poison Ivy series explores a different branch of Ivy family tree. Jaime Pressly stars as Violet, sister of Ivy, who returns to the home of the Greer family. As little girls, Violet and Ivy were traumatized when they were forcibly taken away from the Greer home and their best friend Joy -- after their housekeeper mother was discovered in an affair with the head of the household, Ivan Greer (Michael Des Barres). Now it's eleven years later and the widower Ivan, his grown-up daughter Joy (Trishalee Hardy) and new housekeeper Mrs. B (Susan Tyrrell) welcome the gorgeous, post-adolescent Violet back with open arms. Just like her sister, however, Violet is a scheming tramp and home-wrecker. She quickly shares cocaine and sleeps with Joy's sexually frustrated boyfriend Michael (Greg Vaughan) and seduces Ivan with a topless dip in the pool. When those around her begin to suspect that Violet has less than honorable intentions, she turns homicidal, murdering the Greers one by one, to Joy's horror. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Jealous of the beautiful mortal Psyche (Susan Ward), goddess of love Aphrodite (Alexandra Tydings) orders her son Cupid (Karl Urban) to shoot Psyche with "love arrows" so that the girl will remove herself from romantic competition. What Aphrodite doesn't know is that Cupid is in love with Psyche himself, which is why he misfires his arrows and hits Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) instead. This proves to be a miscalculation when the smitten Hercules falls for Psyche himself, whereupon Cupid is so consumed by jealousy that he literally transforms into the "Green-Eyed Monster" of the title. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
