Frustrated at being stuck in a sexless marriage, a man gets seduced by his boss and attempts to even the playing field by getting his wife to cheat on him. Dan (Christopher Masterson) has a problem; he's just married the beautiful Marcie (Bijou Phillips) for three months, but they still haven't consummated their union. When Dan's sex-crazed boss Catherine (Lauren German) comes on to him during a marathon work session, he crumbles under temptation. Immediately regretting his actions but unable to simply admit his indiscretion, Dan schemes with his best pal Mike (Samm Levine) to get Marcie to wander astray, too. If Dan isn't the only one who cheated, he and Mike surmise, then Marcie can't be mad at him for doing so. But hatching the plan is one thing, and finding a guy who's willing to go along with his plan is an altogether different challenge. In a blur of paranormal chaos, the couple must take drastic measures to cover up their actions from the local police, ultimately leading each character to an inescapable fate.

Love and lust are jockeying for position during one busy night at a hip dance club in this independent comedy-drama. Ryan (Patrick Flueger) is the house DJ at a nightspot in Los Angeles that is enjoying a brief moment as the hippest joint in town. Ryan carries a torch for Cassie (Lauren German), a waitress who is hoping to launch a career as an actress. However, Cassie isn't as strongly attracted to Ryan, and she has no shortage of other potential suitors. As Ryan and Cassie try to sort out their feelings during one busy night, a number of other folks looking either for new love or a new hook-up make their way across the dance floor, including Tony (Michael Biehn), who has been propping up his failing film industry career with some illegal business; crystal meth enthusiast Delaney (Chris Lowell); Mick (Adam Campbell), who works his British charm for all it's worth; and Aubrey (Bijou Phillips) and Apple (Katie Cassidy), who are friends with Cassie and are also struggling to get a break in show biz. Three American students studying art in Rome are drawn into a grim world of torture and suffering in director Eli Roth's blackly comic sequel to the horror hit that shocked the world. Beth (Lauren German), Whitney (Bijou Phillips), and Lorna (Heather Matarazzo) have ventured outside of their stateside surroundings in order to get a more worldly appreciation of the arts. But sketching nudes all day can take its toll on even the most talented artist, and when class is over the three girls jump at the opportunity to experience Europe firsthand. As they set out on the train for an impromptu weekend trip, however, the coeds are surprised to cross paths with the beautiful model they had just been sketching. It appears that she, too, is preparing for a vacation that promises to be both relaxing and rejuvenating, and a generous invitation to join her at a remote hostel surrounded by soothing hot springs ultimately proves too tempting for the adventurous Americans to pass up. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting students, one person's idea of relaxing can be another's worst nightmare. A woman pulling a minor scam to keep her dream business alive digs herself in deeper when she becomes involved with a goofy ex-con in this independent comedy from first-time director Elizabeth Harrison. Mary Wilson (Lauren German) was born and raised in Texas, but by the time she became an adult she'd grown tired of her off-the-wall family and moved East to build a career for herself. Mary is an expert chef who has opened an upscale bakeshop, but some bad press and a severe rent increase could put her out of business. Desperate to keep the store afloat, Mary decides to bite the bullet and go back to Texas for a visit; her plan is to bring along her fiancé Brent (Gabriel Mann), introduce him to her folks, and hope their engagement gifts will bring enough cash to pay off her creditors. However, a severe allergic reaction prevents Brent from going; Mary can't afford to postpone the trip, so she brings along Brent's twin brother Jake (also played by Mann), an irresponsible jailbird, to impersonate her intended as she pumps her family for money. Two brothers who make their living through murder and theft find that their work gets harder when they tangle with an intelligent young woman in this dark thriller. Siblings John (Jake Muxworthy) and Michael (Gabriel Mann) were raised by their father (Tom Sizemore), a psychopath who drifted from town to town, killing people and taking their homes and belongings when he ran low on money. John and Michael traveled with their dad, and have grown up to follow in his footsteps, though while Michael enjoys his work and takes particular pleasure in raping and murdering women, John has less enthusiasm for violence and prefers to kill only when the circumstances demand it, without developing a close connection with his victims. John and Michael's ways take a disquieting turn when they abduct Archer (Kelli Garner), a clever and attractive young woman whom both men fall for. This situation begins to deeply trouble John, and his half-sister, Gertie (Lauren German), suggests that it's time he gave up his life of crime, though it soon becomes clear she has motives of her own. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

This hour-long UPN drama series was originally titled Sex, Lies & Secrets, but the producers opted to emphasize the more positive aspects of life in a tightly knit community in L.A.'s Silver Lake district. Among the gorgeous twentysomethings populating the area was Charlie (Eric Balfour), a conniving, womanizing hairdresser; Jolene (Denise Richards), resident "hot babe" and scheming publicist; Hank (James Stevenson), hunky lead singer for the punk band Modern Apes; Rose (Lauren German), rising celebrity journalist and Hank's lover (provided Jolene didn't steal him away from her); Nina (Tamara Taylor), a love-starved, workaholic ob-gyn; Milo (Lucas Bryant), the mysterious and mercurial boyfriend whom Nina met online; and Coop (Omar Miller), Modern Apes' perennially unlucky-in-love drummer. When a diverse group of lifelong friends comes together to celebrate the marriage of devoted couple Elise (Amy Adams) and Michael (Adam Garcia), the mixed-up relationships of the past pave the road to a weekend no one is likely to soon forget in the feature debut from filmmaker Matthew Cole Weiss. The setting is Los Angeles, CA, and the event is the wedding between a man and a woman who always seemed destined to be together. Unfortunately, all relationships can't be as healthy as Elise and Michael's is, and though best man and maid of honor Rich (Aaron Stanford) and Samantha (Melissa Sagemiller) seem to be preparing to take the plunge, the same certainly cannot be said for neurotic actress Lana (Mena Suvari). A free-spirited soul who has experienced flings with a variety of wedding attendees including the hapless Pockets (Jon Abrahams), alcoholic actor Simon (James Van Der Beek), and manic children's television program host Donovan (Ethan Embry), Lana attempts to sort out her past flings as lovelorn agent Quentin (Colin Hanks) pines for the bride's sister and the estranged father of the groom attempts to reconnect with his long-lost son. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

To those who have grown up with the radio and TV versions of the old Lone Ranger series, this retro TV-movie adaptation will appear as if it has just landed from another planet. Gone are such familiar trappings as "The William Tell Overture," the bushwhacking Butch Cavendish Gang, the title character's backstory as a genuine Texas Ranger, and faithful Indian companion Tonto's Pidgin English. Instead, the viewer is offered a wall-to-wall rock score; a twentysomething hunk of a Boston law student named Luke Hartman (Sebastian Spence) who morphs into the Lone Ranger; an equally youthful and remarkably articulate Tonto (Nathaniel Arcand) who dabbles in mysticism and has a hottie sister named Alope (Anita Brown); authentic 19th century dialogue such as "I love you guys!"; and even a skinny-dipping sequence. Yes, the Lone Ranger still rides a white stallion named Silver and fills his guns with silver bullets; yes, he still sports a mask; and yes, he dedicates his life to being a "champion of justice" after the brutal murder of his Ranger brother. One of the most infamous horror films of the 1970s is revisited in this remake produced by action-spectacle maven Michael Bay. In the summer of 1973, four teenagers -- Erin (Jessica Biel), Morgan (Jonathan Tucker), Kemper (Eric Balfour), and Andy (Mike Vogel) -- are driving through Texas on a road trip when they pick up a hitchhiker, Pepper (Erica Leerhsen), who is on her way to Mexico to score some dope. With Pepper adding to the party atmosphere, the other four decide to join her, but as they're passing through a small town in Travis County, they see a bloody and distraught girl (Lauren German) wandering by the side of the road, and after stopping to help her, they realize she's been involved in something horribly traumatic. As the kids try to help the girl piece together the story of what happened, they find themselves drawn into the web of a murderous family of subnormal cannibals. Inspired -- like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs, and Deranged -- by the crimes of Wisconsin multiple murderer Ed Gein, this remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre also features narration by John Larroquette, who narrated the original film (it was his first screen credit), as well as supporting performances by R. The best-seller by sentimental novelist Nicholas Sparks becomes this teen melodrama set in a coastal North Carolina port. Cocky, popular high school student Landon Carter (Shane West) is the big man on campus at Beaufort High School until a hazing incident leaves a fellow student paralyzed. Sentenced to community service and membership in his school's drama club, Landon is forced to seek help from Jamie Sullivan (pop singer Mandy Moore), the conservative, religious, plain-Jane daughter of the town's Baptist minister (Peter Coyote). When the two students begin to fall in love, Landon struggles with the drop in popularity that his new friendship brings, while Jamie is forced to deal with her strict father and a secret that she's keeping from her schoolmates. The legacy of a deceased high school misfit lives on as his tormentors slowly falls prey to a vengeful spirit from beyond the grave in this fright feature from veteran television director Chuck Bowman. Jeff Lucas (Josh Hammond) is already an outcast, but when he makes a horror film instead of a documentary for a class project, the ridicule his classmates inflict upon him soon turns to outright abuse. After being forced into an auto race with one of his more sadistic classmates, Jeff's car careens over a cliff and the troubled student is presumed to be dead. This Big Apple-based romantic comedy charts the tumultuous relationship between liberal arts student and budding chef Al (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and his first girlfriend, Imogen (Julia Stiles), a self-possessed freshman who wants to become an artist. After meeting in a bar, the pair jump into a giddy, passionate affair that's grown-up enough to include face time between the young lovers and Al's DJ mom and TV-chef dad (Henry Winkler). After a summer abroad, however, Imogen feels like the relationship is robbing her of her youth, and the couple must struggle with romantic and domestic growing pains. Meanwhile, their wacky friends -- who include porn stars (Selma Blair and Zak Orth), stoners (Rosario Dawson), a mullet-haired lunkhead (Shawn Hatosy), and a Jim Morrison look-alike named Jim Morrison (Ashton Kutcher) -- provide laughs, advice, and sexual temptation. The debut film from writer/director Kris Isacsson, the teen-themed Down to You marked a change of pace for normally grown-up Miramax Films. In addition to a slew of recent rock and pop, the film prominently features music from such downtown New York fixtures of the past decade as Deee-Lite ("Groove is in the Heart") and Cibo Matto ("Moonchild"). ~ Brian J.
