From the directing team behind I Will Survive and Not Love comes I Love You Baby, a romantic comedy about the more farcical vagaries of love and sexual preference. The film opens as Marcos (Jorge Sanz) moves from the country to the city to work at his uncle's café. There, he meets and falls head over heels in love with Daniel (Santiago Magill), a dishy guy with great hair and a love of Boy George. Everything is rosy until one fateful evening when the two go to a karaoke bar. While crooning, fittingly enough, "You're Just Too Good to Be True," Marcos is whacked on the head by a falling disco ball. He is knocked out, and upon regaining consciousness, discovers that all traces of his homosexuality have been erased. Duly dumping a heartbroken Daniel, Marcos embarks on life as a straight man, falling for Marisol (Thiaré Scanda), a Dominican immigrant. Daniel, however, is determined to win back his man, and concocts a scheme -- despite urgings to the contrary from his friend, Carmen (Verónica Forqué) -- to dress up as a woman who will seduce the errant Marcos. I Love You Baby was screened at the 2002 Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, Rovi

Ana (Aitana Sanchez-Gijon) is a Spanish dealer in ersatz Mayan relics. Crossing the border between Texas and Mexico, she is taken in for questioning by Mendizabel (Jesus Ochoa), a sleazy border officer with a major jones for his captive. Eventually Ana is freed but she's destitute and soon hitching her way through Mexico. She's picked up by Aurelia (Tiare Scanda), a young mother who has run away from her drug dealer boyfriend Saul (Martin Altomaro), hoping to build a better life for her two children. Although Ana and Aurelia have little common ground -- Ana is aloof and sophisticated, while Aurelia is uneducated and practical -- the two women ultimately form a bond of solidarity and camaraderie that is put to the test when both Saul and Mendizabel catch up with them. Sin Dejar Huella was shown at the 2000 San Sebastian Film Festival, where it earned the title of "Thelmita y Luisita" in the Spanish press. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, Rovi

A lonely, aging postal worker finds himself the victim of a cruel practical joke in this pessimistic Mexican drama. The trouble begins when crotchety postman Andre begins complaining about his young neighbor Marianna's propensity for playing loud music every time she entertains a lover. To get back at him, Marianna begins sending him anonymous love letters. The old man is intrigued by the mysterious letters and hires a cheap detective to find their author. The detective is convinced the perpetrator is Teresita, a veteran hooker who joins in on the scheme to earn a little extra cash. Andre's friend and colleague tries to warn Andre that it is all a game, but his friend is in love and will not listen. Meanwhile, Marianna attempts to woo Luis Felipe, a hard, unfeeling tabloid journalist who has her take grisly pictures of murder victims for him. Both Marianna and Andre are destined to meet an unpleasant fate at the story's end. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Those who are familiar with social movements in Mexico in the 1970s may find this simple drama significantly more compelling, as the student movements of that period form the backdrop for the main story. This film celebrates the friendship that developed between two high school girls who have each recently moved to Toluca, a provincial capital city in Mexico. Not only do they manage to retain their friendship despite their both falling in love with the same boy, but they are joined in grief when he dies. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
