Robson Green Movies

With an impossibly cool demeanor and a starkly handsome visage, U.K. actor Robson Green embarked on a formidable dramatic career in his early twenties. He subsequently became a sensation in his native Britain, with a marked emphasis on television roles, and amassed well over 200 appearances within 20 years.
Green launched his entertainment career on a low-key basis, as one of the presenters in the 1984 employment documentary Who Needs a Union? This marked the actor's last nonfiction work for some time, however, and in successive years, he became a veritable staple on such English fiction series as Casualty, Soldier Soldier, Reckless, and Touching Evil. In 2002, Green gained additional notoriety as Liam Marple -- a dirt-digging tabloid journalist who sets out to expose skeletons in the closets of female prime minister Laura Bowden (Caroline Goodall), but ultimately falls in love with her, in the popular British telemovie Me & Mrs. Jones. Green continued his explorations of domestic discord with the visceral one-hour dramatic feature Beaten (2005) and the same year's shocking miniseries Like Father, Like Son. In the latter, Green portrayed a young man engaged to be married but plagued with problems from his intended's psychopathic ex-husband and equally malevolent teenage son. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Kevin Whately of English television's Inspector Morse toplines this British drama, set during World War II; he stars as Joe Maddison, a World War I veteran turned shipyard worker suffering from deep depression and midlife ennui. Turned down for service in the regular British army, Maddison's mood sinks even lower when his wife leaves him for a sailor. In response, he and friend Harry (Robson Green) volunteer for a local brigade called the Home Guard, headed by Mr. Simpson (Derek Jacobi), a local pharmacist. This takes Maddison on a life-changing journey of self-discovery. Melanie Hill, John Woodvine and James Atherton co-star. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

When a documentary filmmaker profiles a star detective, her quest for the facts in a case that's forty years old leads her to a sinister truth in this adaptation of the novel by Val McDermaid. December 1963: a young girl named Alison Carter vanishes without a trace while walking her dog in Scarsdale. Detective Inspector George Bennett (Lee Ingleby) had just been promoted, and this would be his first missing persons case. It was also the case that made him a national hero. Yet despite gathering enough evidence to have his primary suspect executed, Detective Inspector Bennett never was able to locate the body of the missing girl. Four decades later, maverick filmmaker Catherine Heathcote (Juliet Stevenson) focuses her lens on Bennett in an effort to solve that lingering mystery, and discovers a troubling inconsistency in his reports. It seems that the questions raised at the time of the murder have different answers today than they did forty years ago. Perhaps if Heathcote can uncover the reason for that discrepancy, she can finally lay a decades-old mystery - and the haunting pains of a lingering tragedy - to rest. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Though its title is lifted from the popular 1970s song, the British drama Me & Mrs. Jones is eminently up-to-date in its tone and content. Robson Green stars as tabloid journalist Liam Marple, who at the behest of his boss (and ex-wife), Jane (Keeley Hawes), sets about to dig up dirt on Laura Bowden (Caroline Goodall), the new British Prime Minister. Posing as a political fundraiser, Liam gains entrance into Number 10 Downing, where he promptly wins the confidence of the idealistic PM. A thorough professional, Liam had never counted on falling in love with Laura, but that is precisely what happens -- and neither Jane nor Laura's husband, Richard (Philip Quast), is all that pleased over this particular "scoop." Originally telecast in the U.K. in 2002, Me & Mrs. Jones was seen in America as part of PBS' Masterpiece Theatre anthology on January 26, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

When three London hospital patients are administered a drug which none were prescribed and subsequently die, it's up to Organized Serial Crime Unit detective inspectors Dave Creegan (Robson Green) and Susan Taylor (Nicola Walker) to crack the case and ensure that the guilty party pays for his or her crimes in this installment of the popular police detective series Touching Evil. Deeply shaken as a result of his own near-death experience after being shot in the head, Detective Creegan launches an intense investigation into the murders that reveals all three victims had previously been declared clinically dead before being resuscitated and brought back from the "other side."
