Dylan Neal Movies

Though Canadian actor Dylan Neal lists a number of earlier credits on his resumé, he didn't truly gain substantial recognition among American audiences prior to winning a brief role on the prime-time soap opera Dawson's Creak, opposite James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams. As Doug Witter, the older brother of Pacey (Jackson), Neal brought a level of finesse and complexity to his role that paved the way for additional work in other television series and films. Neal received second billing as the protégé of martial arts hero Chuck Norris in the direct-to-video action thriller The President's Man (2000), then acted under the aegis of horror legend Sean S. Cunningham (Friday the 13th) in the 2001 XCU: Extreme Close Up. Following a small supporting role in the Josh Hartnett sex comedy 40 Days and 40 Nights, Neal scored his broadest exposure to date on the sci-fi horror series Blood Ties, which premiered in early 2007. On that program, he played Mike Celluci, the ex-boyfriend of private eye Vicki Nelson (Christina Cox), who grows immediately jealous when the latter strikes up a romance with a centuries-old vampire (Kyle Schmid). ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Having survived a traumatic encounter with hordes of dangerous locusts, Dr. Maddy Reardon (Lucy Lawless), a specialist in the behavior patterns of voracious insects, accepts what she thinks will be a stress-free job as a professor at Tate University in Louisiana. Unfortunately, Maddy is once again forced to put her knowledge to use--and her life on the line--when the body of a student is found, drained of blood. Assisted by her husband Dan (Dylan Neal) and by several of her more courageous (or should we say foolhardy?) students, Maddy endeavors to prove that the death of the student was caused by a flock of particularly vicious vampire bats, mutated into monstrosity by a recent toxic waste dump. Timothy Bottoms costars as Mayor Hank Poelker, who is covertly in cahoots with the chemical company that has caused this calamity. (Can it be that Bottoms was cast because of his resemblance to President George W. Bush, whom the actor has also played on several occasions?) Originally slated to be filmed in New Orleans, Vampire Bats shifted production to Canada to avoid the anticipated onslaught of Hurricane Katrina; the made-for-TV thriller debuted October 30, 2005 on CBS. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Following memorable roles in the military action-adventures Pearl Harbor (2001) and Black Hawk Down (2001), young actor Josh Hartnett is propelled to romantic leading man status with this semi-autobiographical comedy from screenwriter Rob Perez. Hartnett stars as Matt Sullivan, a young man smarting over the bitter breakup of his most recent relationship. With Lent approaching, Matt decides to observe the 40-day tradition by abstaining from all sexual contact, including self-gratification. Once his odyssey of discipline has begun, he meets the girl of his dreams, while his ex begins campaigning to get him back. Co-starring Shannyn Sossamon, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Vinessa Shaw, 40 Days and 40 Nights inspired another round of controversy between distributor Miramax and the Catholic League, which accused the film of being a "vulgar parody" of Lent. The League previously protested the company's releases of Priest (1994) and Dogma (1999). ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

Chuck Norris stars in this made-for-TV thriller as Joshua McCord, a Presidential secret agent. Though still quite virile and limber, McCord feels that he is getting too old for his job, thus he begins training a younger man named Deke Slater (Dylan Neal) as his replacement, using Zen and proper nutrition as primary teachings tools. But McCord springs back into action -- and kicks plenty of serious butt in the process -- when the First Lady is kidnapped by a terrorist organization. First telecast by CBS on April 2, 2000, The President's Man was followed two years later by a sequel, The President's Man: A Line in the Sand. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
