Martin Spanjers Movies

An actor who initially tackled characterizations during his adolescent years, Martin Spanjers did much of his premier work on television, with a heavy emphasis on sitcoms. In his early years, he specialized in playing average (and unremarkable) teens, and was often cast as the son in sitcom families -- per his most visible role, as Rory Hennessy (the oldest child of John Ritter's patriarch Paul Hennessy) in 8 Simple Rules (2002-2005). Spanjers branched out into big-screen work with his supporting turn as Randy in the sports farce The Comebacks. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

The producers of Wedding Crashers are back with the comedy The Comebacks. Spoofing countless inspirational sports movies, the film stars David Koechner (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) as Lambeau Fields, a football coach who suffers from a streak of bad luck that has become the stuff of legend. As a last resort, he takes a job coaching a college football team populated with some of the least desirable players imaginable. He must pull this ragtag crew together in order to salvage his career. Carl Weathers plays rival coach Freddie Wiseman. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi
