Louise Fitch Movies
Character actress Louise Fitch starred in such 1950s cult favorites as Blood of Dracula and I Was a Teenage Werewolf (both 1957). During this period in her career, she billed herself as Louise Lewis. Her acting career began in television's earliest years when she performed in such productions as Playhouse 90 and Climax Theater. Fitch was blacklisted for being a Communist in 1953 and this significantly hindered her career over the next decade. She made a comeback in 1963 as a regular on the NBC soap opera Paradise Bay. She would continue on to appear in a number of television programs ranging from General Hospital to Murder She Wrote. Fitch's feature film career picked up in the late '60s and early '70s and she appeared in such films as They Shoot Horses Don't They (1969), Opening Night (1977), and True Confessions (1980). Deception: A Mother's Secret premiered as a made-for-TV effort during Thanksgiving week, 1991. There's little reason for leading man Steven Weber to offer thanks for the events which transpire in this heavy-going soap opera. Upon the death of his wife, Weber discovers that his entire marital relationship was founded on lies. In particular, he learns that even his young son has an unsavory past--and that Weber may have to give up his child to strangers before long. Adapted by John Gregory Dunne and Joan Didion from Dunne's novel, True Confessions uses the still-unsolved "Black Dahlia" murder as the foundation for a devastating attack on big-city corruption -- in which it appears that many of the perpetrators wear clerical collars. In, 1948 Los Angeles detective Tom Spellacy (Robert Duvall) is assigned to investigate the death of a priest, who apparently suffered a heart attack while being serviced by a prostitute. Meanwhile, Tom's brother, young Catholic monsignor Des Spellacy (Robert De Niro), is reluctantly currying favor with crooked contractor Jack Amsterdam (Charles Durning), the better to finance an expansion of Des' church. The unifying factor between Tom and Des, beyond their sibling relationship, turns out to be the grisly murder of a hooker. Jim (James Garner) is asked by Angie Perris (Elayne Heilveil) to locate her brother, stockbroker Tom Perris (Eugene Peterson), who disappeared shortly after giving her the combination to his safe. Starbird and Sweet William was originally released as The Adventures of Starbird in 1975. A Martinez heads the cast as a Native American youth. While on plane trip en route to his home village, Martinez crashes in the wilderness. Here he is forced to emulate his forebears by fending for himself. Charles Bronson re-teams with director Michael Winner -- sandwiched between their first pairing in the underrated Chato's Land and their seminal collaboration in Death Wish -- in this Lewis John Carlino-scripted actioner. Bronson plays Arthur Bishop, a "mechanic" or hired killer, famed for his efficient and unfeeling contract executions. The young and eager Steve McKenna (Jan-Michael Vincent) teams up with him, hoping that Bishop will teach him the bounty-hunting business. Imparting words of wisdom to Steve like, "Murder is only killing without a license and everybody kills -- the Army, the police," the two undergo a series of adventures as Bishop shows Steve the ropes. This American-International horror potboiler was originally issue on a double bill with I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (also directed by Herbert L. Strock). The lovely and graceful Sandra Harrison is quite appealing as Nancy Perkins, an innocent girl who falls under the spell of e-vil chemistry teacher Miss Branding (Louise Lewis). Putting Nancy under hypnosis, Miss Branding converts the poor damsel to vampirism, committing murders and then forgetting all about them. The villainess receives her comeuppance when Nancy refuses to snap out of her spell, transforming into a slavering vampiric beast. I Was a Teenage Werewolf is a B-level cheapie that can most easily be summed up as a cross between The Wolf Man and Rebel Without a Cause. Michael Landon stars as Tony, a hot-headed teenager whose lightning-quick temper has led to social troubles and created concern from his father, his girlfriend Arlene (Yvonne Lime), and local lawman Detective Donovan (Barney Phillips). After belting his buddy Vic (Ken Miller) for no reason, Tony agrees to see Dr. Brandon (Whit Bissell), a psychologist who uses hypnosis to help his patients. In reality, Brandon is a mad scientist who has designs on regressing Tony to his most primal state using drugs and hypnosis. Not long after Tony's first session, a teen is killed by what the police believe is some kind of animal, but when Tony transforms in front of Arlene at their school, the truth comes to light: Tony is a werewolf. With the townsfolk paralyzed by fear, the police organize a manhunt, which the werewolf manages to evade. After returning to his human state, Tony heads back to the treacherous Dr. Brandon.
