Aloha Summer is set in 1959 Hawaii. The six teenaged protagonists are drawn from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, resulting in the expected prejudices, hostilities and misunderstandings. The story's focus is on Chris Makepeace, an Italian-American lad who learns by means both soft and hard how to get along with, and understand, those different from himself. A few Kung-Fu scenes are thrown in whenever the action threatens to flag. While bereft of surprises, Aloha Summer is a magnificently photographed delight for surf-movie aficionados. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Higgins (John Hillerman) takes a group of youngsters from a prison farm for what he hopes to be a character-building "survivalist" weekend in the wilds. Unfortunately, the event is nearly ruined when three of the tougher inmates stage an escape, committing murder in the process. Now Higgins must draw upon his wartime commando experiences to save the lives of himself and the remaining campers. And back at Robin's Nest, yet another wild party comes acropper for T.C. (Roger E. Ron Pennington (played by Magnum, P.I.'s stunt coordinator Robert L. Minor), an old basketball-player friend of T.C. (Roger E. Mosley), is murdered during a robbery. It turns out that Ron's estranged son Ronny (Larry B. Scott) was acquainted with the killers--and that the supposedly random robbery was tied in with a large-scale drug operation.
