When a successful young attorney becomes involved in the deteriorating marriage of a longtime friend, the repercussions of his actions could spell disaster for all involved in this tense martial thriller from director Reggie Gaskins. Dontae McNeil loves his wife Diane deeply and strives to be the best husband he can, but Diane simply isn't happy in the marriage. Russell Jenkins is a powerful defense attorney with a beautiful wife and a sprawling home. An old friend of Diane's, Russell has everything she has ever wanted in life. When Diane comes seeking Russell's advice on how to handle her marital problems and the pair grows increasingly close, Dante soon begins to suspect that Diane and Russell may be having an affair. Upon confronting Diane, Dante's erratic behavior causes his frightened wife to seek a restraining order against her husband. Infuriated that the woman he loves so deeply could take such drastic measures, Dante becomes consumed by his anger. When Diane makes the fatal mistake of asking Russell to discuss the matter with the increasingly irrational Dante, the fury of being confronted by the very man he suspects his wife of sleeping with drives Dante over the edge of sanity. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Adversaries become wary allies in this free-wheeling action comedy. Hank Rafferty (Steve Zahn) is a Los Angeles Police Department officer who finds himself out of a job after he becomes involved in a violent altercation with police academy flunk-out Earl Montgomery (Martin Lawrence), escalating into a media event which brings the LAPD a wealth of bad publicity. Unable to find work, Hank finally takes a job as a "rent-a-cop" with a private security firm -- and discovers to his annoyance that his new partner is Earl. While neither of them are thrilled to be working together on the lowest strata of the law enforcement community, the two find themselves dealing with bigger crime than they expected when they stumble across evidence of a elite smuggling network operated by criminal mastermind Nash (Eric Roberts). Hank and Earl want to put Nash out of business, and they try without success to persuade the police of the importance of the case. But before long they discover it's not just Nash's men who are after them, but two high-ranking LAPD officials, Lt. Washington (Bill Duke) and Detective McDuff (Colm Feore). National Security was directed by Dennis Dugan, who'd previously helmed antic comedies starring Adam Sandler and Chris Farley; this film also marked Martin Lawrence's entry into the elite of Hollywood's comedy stars, with Lawrence taking home a 20-million-dollar paycheck for his work on the picture. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The troubled marital relationship between failed screenwriter Howard (Mel Jackson) and his comely wife Debbie (Mari Marrow) gets stressed even further when a sexy stranger named Silk (Mekhi Phifer) arrives at the door of their middle-class suburban home. Silk's car has broken down, it seems, and he needs to use the telephone. Howard goes back to work on the patio with his partners, and as they hammer out pages of Howard's latest script, Debbie and her significantly single, wisecracking friend Tammy (Malinda Williams) find Silk an interesting diversion. Before long, though, it's Debbie who is nude in the hot tub with Silk -- while Howard watches, bound and gagged from a kitchen window. Before the box-office success of Varsity Blues (1999) and the critical acclaim of Election (1999), the MTV cable channel created this raunchy campus comedy, the debut feature from MTV Films, the network's motion-picture production banner. Josh Miller (Tom Everett Scott) is a studious and responsible pre-med student entering college as a freshman. His wild, hard-partying roommate, Cooper Frederickson (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), on the other hand, is a spoiled rich kid who never studies and spends his time getting drunk and ogling coeds. Before long, Cooper's fun-filled lifestyle has corrupted Josh, and both are on the verge of flunking out of school. That's when they discover a little-used codicil in the college's charter stating that any student whose roommate commits suicide will automatically receive straight A's. Since their third roommate has moved in with his girlfriend, Josh and Cooper set about recruiting the most depressed, suicidal classmate they can find. The prime candidate: Cliff (Lochlyn Munro), a mentally unbalanced wild man. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

A man who's devoted his life to running around on his woman finally meets his match in this comedy. Dray Jackson (Bill Bellamy) is a ladies' man par excellence, who never lets the fact that he has a girlfriend, Lisa (Lark Voorhies), get in the way of making time with as many other women as possible. As he spends a typical day going from house to house "visiting" a number of beautiful females, Dray fills his friends David (Pierre Edwards), Kilo (Jermaine Hopkins), and Spootie (A.J. Johnson) in on the finer points of the art of having as many ladies as you want without getting caught. Dray's sister Jenny (Natalie Desselle) and her friend Katrina (Mari Morrow) are at once disgusted and morbidly fascinated with Dray's cheerful, chronic infidelity, and since Jenny is studying anthropology, they decide that Dray's lifestyle would be a worthy subject for research. Deciding to see what would happen if Dray was really put to the test (and maybe teach him a lesson in the process), Jenny and Katrina throw a party, and they invite Dray -- and all the women whose telephone numbers appear in his address book. Max Julien, best known for his role as the ultra-smooth pimp in the blaxploitation classic The Mack, appears as Dray's lady-killing Uncle Fred. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Feeling pressured at home and at school, Will (Will Smith) secretly purchases some amphetamines--and though he doesn't take them, he hides them in his locker. Shortly thereafter, Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro) accidently consume Will's "speed pills", mistaking them for vitamins, and ends up in the hospital. This powerful "Just Say No" broadside was among the first Fresh Prince of Bel-Air episodes to indicate that, for all his clowning, Will Smith had a fantastic potential as a dramatic actor. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
