There are those who might describe the made-for-cable What Lies Above as a distaff variation of the Sylvester Stallone theatrical feature Cliffhanger. Still grieving over the death of her husband in a rock-climbing accident, mountain guide Diana Pennington (Nicole Eggert) eagerly accepts a job from industrialist Curt Seaver (Marc Singer). It seems that Seaver wants to use sophisticated satellite technology to locate the body of Diana's late hubby. But upon reaching the treacherous Snowman's Pass, Diana realizes that Seaver and his two sinister-looking associates Tyler (George Stults) and Hugo (Stephane Henchoz) are actually looking for a downed enemy spy satellite--and she will be disposed of once they succeed in their quest. The rest of the film pits Diana's "mountain smarts" against the high-tech weaponry of the three bad guys. Filmed on location in British Columbia, What Lies Above premiered over the Lifetime channel on November 8, 2004; it has since been rebroadcast under the title Snowman's Pass. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Fans of the old Baywatch TV series take heart. Despite all evidence to the contrary, legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) was not killed in that explosion during the series' final season. Instead, he has been suffering from amnesia for the past three years, and has now re-emerged from the shadows with a stunning new fiancée in tow. The lovely Allison bears an astonishing resemblance to Mitch's long-dead sweetheart, policewoman Stephanie Holden -- as well she may, since Allison is also played by the series' Alexandra Paul. Virtually all of the old Baywatch regulars gather together for the lavish wedding of Mitch and Shannon in Hawaii, little suspecting that Allison is actually in league with an old enemy of Mitch's who has set his cold, black heart on a horrible revenge. Is there anyone in the wedding party who will step up and rescue Mitch from certain doom? Perhaps his ex-wife Neely Capshaw (Gena Lee Nolin), or the still beautiful, incredibly pneumatic Casey Jean Parker (who else but Pamela Anderson)? The sort of TV-movie fare for which sweeps weeks were invented, Baywatch Hawaiian Wedding made its Fox network debut February 28, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

An underachieving, New Jersey-based rock band set out for their last tour with the understanding that if success doesn't come this time out, it's time to step out of the spotlight and back into the daily grind. The year is 1994, and as summer draws near the Handy Kaufmans begin the preparations for what could very well be their final tour. These days it seems like lead singer Donnie (J.T. Pitoc) and incompetent manager Big Frank (Jay Leggett) can't go five minutes without stirring up some kind of trouble, and when drunken bassist Jim (Bret Domrose) is knocked out of commission following a booze soaked pissing contest, unpredictable beauty Trixie (Lara Boyd Rhodes) is brought in as a last-minute replacement. Of course drummer Lee (Christian Campbell) has no problem with all of this, but lately his overbearing parents (Mark Hamill and Sally Kirkland) have been putting on the pressure for him to get a real job. Perhaps if they can just maintain their momentum long enough to reach the state fair and deliver a performance that will send the high-powered record executive in attendance back to California still hyped from the show, the band's dream of rock and roll super-stardom won't go up in flames after all. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Four 20-somethings try to unravel the tangled mess of their love lives in this modern romantic drama. Larry (Leon) runs a nightclub, but he would rather be onstage singing than booking the talent. Meanwhile, Billy (Jon Seda) has fallen in love with Renee, unaware that she still carries a torch for Larry (or even that they were ever involved). Jack Wagner stars in this made-for-TV drama as Nick Rawlings, a Dallas-based commercial airline pilot with (to say the very least) a well-populated private life. But bluntly, Nick is a serial bigamist, with one wife named Jobeth (Shelley Hack) in Dallas and another named Alison (Joan Severance) in Chicago--and a young fiancée named Miriam (Nicole Eggert) in Hawaii. Though he has managed to keep the various women in his life from finding out about one another via a sophisticated system of high-tech subterfuge, Nick's chickens start coming home to roost when Jobeth begins wondering about a bill for a $9000 anniversary present which she has never received. Though based on a true story, the film ends on a note of comic irony that would not be out of place in a Billy Wilder picture!
