This hit-and-miss, low-budget comedy is a first effort for director Mariano Ozores and stars his two brothers Jose Luis and Antonio Ozores, two of Spain's more recognized comics. Although this generation of the family dedicated itself to humor, this tale of a fake corpse is not their best offering. The heirs to a fortune are anxious to get their hands on the money that is waiting for them, but are in no mood to wait and let nature (or mayhem) take its course. So a few amateur undertakers agree to prep a (living) body for a ceremonial burial at sea -- thereby opening the door that unlocks the inheritance. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Broad, effective comedy fires up this fanciful story by director Pedro Ramirez. Jose Luis Ozores stars as a bank clerk ignobly "blessed" with the infamous evil-eye. Nothing prevents the unhappy bank clerk from jinxing any project or activity he encounters. Then his fast-talking buddy (Antonio Garisa) comes up with the idea that they might as well put his unwanted talent to work. Suddenly, the pair discover that there is money to be found in the ability to jinx on demand. Unfortunately for this new-found enterprise, love enters the bank clerk's life and puts blinders on his peepers. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Set during one day in Retiro Park in Madrid, this series of static skits involves people interacting in the park or sitting on benches, and talking. People passing through the park include a gentleman looking for a wealthy woman to romance. The woman he encounters, and other characters, alternate between the comic and the melodramatic as the skits unfold. Based mainly on dialogue rather than action, this day in the park features talented actors with not that much to say underneath it all. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Tigre de Chamberi is also known as K.O. Miguel, which happens to be the name of the film's pugnacious protagonist. Jose Luis Ozores plays a naïve young boxer who is taken to the top by his worldly pal Tony Leblanc and no-nonsense trainer Antonio Garisa. Though his ring technique is more funny than ferocious, Ozores manages to emerge triumphant from the experience -- and as a bonus, he wins the love of beautiful heroine Helene Remy. Much of the comedy in Tigre de Chamberi is derived from its depiction of easily familiar boxing "types," from punch-drunk sparring partners to overzealous fans. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The Spanish/Italian Rocket From Calabuch is significant only as the last film of beloved character actor Edmund Gwenn. The 78-year-old star plays a retired atomic scientist who settles in a peaceful Spanish village. But he can't remain sedentary for long, and soon he's off and about developing a new kind of rocket. So much for his retirement, and so much for the peace and quiet in his village, which is soon overrun with reporters and spies. Rocket From Calabuch was originally released in Spain as simply Calabuch; the film didn't make it to the states until after Edmund Gwenn's death in 1959. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
