Claude Lelouch directed this French-Canadian romantic drama in which French futurologist Marc (Marc Hollander) declares luck and coincidence are not factors as he maintains math can be used to predict the future. Former classical dancer Myriam (Alessandra Martines), raising her young son Serge (Arthur Cheysson) alone, is pondering her future when she meets art forger Pierre (Pierre Arditi). The two find an attraction, and Pierre is planning a jaunt in which the trio of Myriam, Pierre and Serge will traverse the world. However, a boating accident and the loss of Myriam's bag at the Montreal airport bring other factors into play. Through luck or coincidence, Myriam's camera and tapes fall into the hands of Marc. In this romantic, sophisticated Canadian horror spoof, a family of Transylvanian vampires experiences turmoil when a daughter rebels against her arranged marriage to a Russian bloodsucker. Sick to death of bickering with her parents, Karmina, decides to fly to Montreal to find her estranged aunt Esmerelda, who has found a formula that enables her to function as a human and run a successful dating service. Esmerelda is happy to share the potion with her newfound niece. Karmina then tries to adjust to life as a mortal. Her jilted lover shows up and his determined pursuit hinders her progress. In a style evocative of Fellini at his most surreal, this bizarre French Canadian fantasy follows the romance between a young filmmaker and a bearded lady from a local circus during the 1960s. The story begins in a contemporary theater where a projectionist describes, to movie director Rex Prince, the ghostly spirit that seems to be haunting his film. The story then races backward to the 1960s when a half-mad, idealistic Rex was busily making his first film, a Marxist tract depicting poverty in Montreal. Edouard Dore, a well-connected editor works with him and it is he who takes Rex to a carnival late one night to meet the performers in a freakshow. The first person Rex meets is Le Grand Zenon, a hulking one-eyed fellow with the amazing ability to use his eye to project movie images on a screen with neither a projector nor film. Later Rex meets the beautiful but facially hirsute Paula Paul de Nerval. For Rex it is almost love at first sight, so he is therefore upset when, only a few hours after their meeting, she takes off to join a Cajun circus in Louisiana . A few months later, Rex, still obsessed with Paula, races southward in an Edsel to become a human cannonball at the same circus as she. The story jumps back to the present to Rex's latest film "La Comtesse de Baton Rouge," a chronicle of his strange love affair with Paula. Up to this point, the story has been surreal and quite poetic, but as Rex's movie unspools, the film becomes a zany comedy. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Three sex-obsessed brothers gather around their comatose mother and engage in a heated debate over the pros and cons of cheating on your partner in this Roshomon style comedy from director Patrick Huard (screenwriter of Bon Cop, Bad Cop. Lucielle (France Costel) has lapsed into a coma, and her sons Mathieu (Claude Legault), Christian (Guillaume Lemay-Thivierge), and Remi (Paul Coucet) have all gathered around her hospital bed.
