In this Italian comedy, three unemployed actors are rehearsing for a crime scene in their boarding house unaware that they are being watched by a nosy neighbor who is convinced that they are professional assassins. He offers them money to kill his philandering wife, and the hungry thespians agree to do the deed. Of course, they don't plan on killing anyone. Meanwhile, the wife and her boy friend are cooking up their own plot. Real trouble ensues when all the different conspiracies get mixed up. As result, the husband has a fatal coronary, and to protect themselves, the woman and her lover lure into a sausage factory where they plan to throw the three into a meat grinder. Fortunately, the police arrive at the last minute and arrest the woman and her lover for the murder (even though they didn't really kill him) of her husband. The actors then attempt to resume their careers. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In this rather sordid French drama, an unhappy couple go on vacation to an isolated resort owned by a different couple. The proprietor's husband has been sick for a long time and she ends up falling in love with the visiting husband. When her long-suffering husband finally dies, the other man begins trying to blackmail her by threatening to inform the police that the woman helped her husband die. In exchange for his silence, the man demands that he and his wife be allowed to stay at the hotel's expense. Eventually the blackmailer's wife gets bored with the slow-paced life and ends up doing a coochy dance for the bartender. The hotel owner learns of this, and to make the extortionist jealous, entices his wife into a lesbian affair. Unfortunately, the ploy fails and the married couple ends up reconciling briefly. They then fight, causing the husband to make love to the proprietor on the beach. The wife comes back and threatens to blackmail them both. In the end, the proprietor admits that she really did kill her husband. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Miscegenation, murder and revenge are the themes of this French crime drama set in the steamy American south. Joe Grant is a vengeful light-skinned black who leaves Memphis and moves to a small town after his brother is brutally lynched for attempting to marry a white woman. Joe's skin is so light that he is able to pass himself off as Caucasian and find work in a local bookstore. To get revenge on white society, Joe seduces a rich young white girl and then plots her death. At the same time, Joe discovers that the bookstore where he works is a front for an extortion ring. A short time passes and he finds himself falling in love with the girl. She too loves him until she learns that he is of African descent. Knowing this complicates matters (she is engaged to another), but loving him just the same, she suggests they run away together to avoid the blackmailers. After Joe is beaten by the blackmailers, he decides this is a good idea and together the lovers flee. Back in town, the girls enraged fiance organizes a posse loudly claiming that Joe has abducted the girl and plans to rape her. Tragedy ensues just as the fugitive lovers are about to cross the Mason-Dixon Line. This film is not to be confused with the disgusting mid '70s exploitation film of the same title. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
