In this whimsical comedy, Maria (Arancia Cecilia Grimaldi) is a seven-year-old girl who, when her older brothers pick a bouquet of wildflowers for their mother, decides she can do better and makes plans to get some irises for Mom. However, Maria is a bit short on money, so she sets out to find her dad and borrow some change from him. But finding Dad's workplace turns out to be more complicated than she expected, and what she thought would be a quick errand becomes an all-day affair as she runs into a variety of eccentrics while looking for her father (and his wallet). Arancia Cecilia Grimaldi, the young leading lady of Iris, is also the daughter of Aurelio Grimaldi, the film's director. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The prostitutes of Palermo are pictured in this episodic Italian drama. The film lacks a real unifying thread as it presents scenes from the lives of 7 hookers. Five are women. One is a man, and one is a transvestite. In one episode, an aging ill-mannered Neapolitan, Orlanda, entertains North African visitors in her home. They do not seem to mind her constant barrage of racist comments. One of her clients falls for her and protects her from a client who stalks her. She is surprised. The male prostitute finds himself becoming violent after his client is too attentive. Liucca gets beaten in lieu of a payment. A mother struggles with her profession and homelife. Grimaldi dehumanizes clients. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
