From the days when Jesus walked the Earth with his small band of disciples, and then was crucified for his teachings, Christianity's story has been one of passion and politics, struggle and conflict. This program chronicles the story of Christianity, from its beginnings as a subversive religion to its adoption by the Roman Empire to its spread throughout the world. This documentary investigates the politics of the Popes, the influence of paganism, and the persecutions and wars fought in the name of Christ, who exhorted His followers to love one another. Lofty achievements, such as the establishment of missions to feed and educate the needy, are presented. Artwork, re-enactments based on the scriptures, on-location footage at holy sites, and scholarly commentary provide an in-depth look at the first one thousand years of the evolution of this influential religious movement. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, Rovi

An LA radio talk show host with a night call-in program finds his rating soar after a psychopathic killer becomes a regular caller in this low-budget thriller. Dee jay Karlin Pickett is known for being a wild and crazy guy. He is first seen working in Phoenix. He picks up a girl in a bar and shortly thereafter, she is killed. This is naturally upsetting to Pickett who then moves to LA to take a better job. Soon the antics of himself and his new side-kick Jon catch fire and they become one of the most popular shows around. Then the killer calls and announces that he has killed the woman he just slept with. No one but Detective Dimotto takes it very seriously; it is just good for ratings. When another woman dies, Dimotto moves in and solves the case, something perceptive viewers will have done long before the story's grand finale. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

This Canadian-produced horror movie finds a third-generation descendant of the monster-making madman Frankenstein (Simon Ward) performing bizarre electronic mind-control experiments on the students of a Canadian university under the auspices of his sponsor, Dr. Preston (Sean Sullivan). When the doc isn't hard-wiring the kids' brains into the department's newest computer equipment, he's making time with a pretty coed (Kathleen Sawyer). Complications ensue when a group of students decide to frame the doctor for selling pot, leading him to use the computer to remote-control a karate champion and chop-socky his enemies to death. Only when the doc loses his control box do things really get out of hand, leading to a whiz-bang climax which reveals the doctor's true identity. Dated and silly, with needless subplots and numerous drug references, this is occasionally enlivened by some interesting special effects. This film is also known by the oddball title Flick. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi
