A disturbing picture of a woefully dysfunctional family, this dark drama focuses on the sailor Maks (Boris Cavazza) and the people at home who either denigrate or ignore him. His sorry relatives include his invalid mother, an unbalanced sister who works as a hairdresser, and a son fanatic about boxing and women. Their attitudes may have contributed to Maks' drinking problem but his alcoholism is obviously making everything worse.
