Chilean brawler and stuntman Marko Zaror marks his emergence onto the international action scene with this fast-paced martial arts film about the leader of a small Chilean street gang who finds redemption by standing up for the people he loves most. Zamir (Zaror) is the leader of the Kiltros, an idol gang of thugs who spend more time being lazy than breaking any serious laws. Some time back, Zamir rescued half-Korean high school girl Kim from being raped, and now he spends the majority of his time obsessing over the pretty schoolgirl. While Kim doesn't have any real interest in Zamir, she continually toys with him by manipulating him to fight the tae kwon do students at her father's dojo. Suddenly, a villainous scoundrel named Max Kalba bursts onto the scene -- hell-bent on a mission to seek vengeance against Kim's father and his students. It seems that Max's late wife was not the faithful kind, and now the enraged widower places the blame for his wife's infidelity square on the shoulders of Kim's father. With nothing left to lose and everything to fight for, Zamir will take on Max in a fight to the finish to protect the people he cares for, and win Kim's heart once and for all. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A reality television series crosses into deadly territory in this social satire. Patricio (Francisco Reyes) is a television executive who has created a new show, "Baja Tierra," in which a dozen people of different backgrounds and personalities are taken to a remote location high in the Andes, where they'll be kept in an underground holding area while cameras monitor their actions. As Patricio and host Rodrigo (Cristián de la Fuente) watch the proceedings, it becomes increasingly clear they're less interested in the welfare of the contestants than coming up with material that will draw an audience, especially since the show will be airing opposite a major soccer tournament. So far, Patricio is satisfied with the angry outbursts and illicit sexual encounters among his charges, which are attracting a large audience, but things take a disturbing turn when Miguel (Sebastián Layseca), one of the contestants, snaps and begins killing the other players, leaving Patricio to wonder if he should stop the violence or keep giving the viewers at home the violence they want. In this first-time feature by commercials director Leonardo Kocking, a kindergarten teacher living in Chile during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet returns home from work later than usual one night and is greeted with the sight of her husband being dragged unwillingly from their house and stuffed into a waiting car. Her efforts to find him and appeals to the authorities of the country are unavailing. She tries to continue with her life, moving in to live with a woman friend and coping with the advances of an old flame. When she finally hears word of her husband's whereabouts, she is led to an old (and now empty) prison camp, so her situation remains utterly ambiguous, The story is told in flashbacks as she journeys by bus from the city she lives in to the camp in the northern deserts of Chile. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

A wealthy Chilean landowner is used to having powers within his domain which would not surprise a feudal lord in Spain in the 14th century. In this story, set in 1917, Julio Garcia Castano is preparing to celebrate his son's 15th birthday by inviting a selection of local whores to vie for the privilege of initiating him into sexual manhood. His plans go awry when the boy (who is also named Julio) and one of the prostitutes fall in love with each other. With a ruthlessness that would put a Borgia to shame, he ends the relationship. He also has a boundary dispute with a nearby Franciscan monastery, which he solves with similar dispatch. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

This stark Chilean melodrama concerns itself with the plight of slum dwellers living outside Santiago. For many years they have, with great difficulty, been faithfully paying small sums to a real estate man. This man has said that by doing so they can obtain title to the miniscule plots of land their houses stand on. In fact, he has been swindling them and does not even own the land he has been "selling." One of the aggrieved slum dwellers confronts him about this while he is visiting the slum, and the real estate agent shoots him before everyone's eyes. The question confronting these witnesses is whether testifying against this monster will make their lives even more precarious. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
This rather crude, low-budget romantic comedy by director Gilberto Gazcon de Anda revolves around the adventures and misadventures of a trio of lotharios and the women in their lives. Several episodic segments are strung together to create a thin storyline, as seductions and dialogue in dubious taste and musical numbers fill the 90-minute running time. The best recommendation for the feature (titled after the first words in a popular tongue-twister), is singer Luis Aguilar. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

- Nelson Villagra
In this crime drama, fugitive bank robbers take over a remote trapper's cabin. As time passes, the crooks get restless and hungry for women. This inspires the old trapper to tell them the strange, tragic tale of "The Naked Flower," about an ethereal, beautiful girl who wanders the swamps during full moons in search of her long-lost groom. It's a good story, but the crooks don't believe it until one of them goes wandering outside one night and finds her. The two make love then and there. Meanwhile back in the cabin, the robbers begin fighting over their loot and end up dead. Eventually the other criminal returns with the girl in tow vowing to reform and start anew. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
