Filmed in Denmark, Ballerina stars Kirsten Simone as prima ballerina of the Royal Danish Ballet (which indeed she was, in real life). Mette Honigen costars as Simone's protegee, who is so shy that she considers quitting the ballet before she even begins. With Simone's help, Honigen makes a successful debut during an out-of-town engagement. Among the ballets featured are Swan Lake and Coppelia.
