An East German youth attempts to join his parents who have escaped to West Berlin. The only escape route open to him is a train containing American travelers which must pass Russian Army checkpoints at the border town of Marienhorn. A young nurse hides the boy on the train, but word gets out there is a refuge aboard. The train is halted by Russian soldiers, who order the boy be produced before the train continues the journey. Cowan (Jose Ferrer) is the journalist who is decidedly unsympathetic to the plight of the Germans. Blaming them for the war and the conditions which now separate German friends and families in the wake of cold war policies, he soon risks his life to help the young boy escape to West Berlin. ~ Dan Pavlides, Rovi

It's a lucky thing that Four in a Jeep was bankrolled by a Swiss production company; if ever a movie needed a neutral approach, this is the one. The scene is postwar Vienna, a city sliced up into four United Nations sectors. Viveca Lindfors, a recent escapee from a Soviet prison camp, tries to win freedom for her husband. American MP Ralph Meeker attempts to help Lindfors, and to avoid falling in love with her himself. Filmed on location, Four in a Jeep was released in the US by United Artists. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The first Israeli film to enjoy success outside its borders, Hill 24 Doesn't Answer is set during the war of 1948. As the Arabs endeavor to gain control of the Holy Land, we concentrate on four people who've cast their lot with the Jews: Irishman Edward Mulhare, American Michael Wager, Palestinian Arieh Lavi and Yemenite girl Margalet Ovid. As the foursome holds tenuously onto the militarily crucial Hill 24, the film flashes back to show why and how these disparate souls have come together for this undertaking. Haya Harareet, who later co-starred with Charlton Heston in Ben-Hur, plays the underground worker who galvanizes Mulhare into joining the Israelis. While each actor speaks his or her native language, Hill 24 Doesn't Answer is generally shown on TV in an English-dubbed version. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

There the agent gets involved with the scientist's daughter and discovers that her father is busy designing a moon rocket that can be used as a weapon. This leads the agent to break into the scientist's heavily guarded lab and destroy the plans for the missile. There he meets up with radical Moslems who insist on destroying the weapon themselves. He soon discovers a trap. To escape, he abducts the scientist's daughter and heads for Italy where Egyptian agents capture him, place him in a trunk and send him on a plane back to Cairo. Italian guards manage to capture the Egyptians. When they open the trunk, they discover the body of an Egyptian guard, not that of the agent. Meanwhile, the super spy has boarded the plane containing the captured girl. He manages to commandeer the plane, fly back to Egypt and ensure a happy ending for all involved. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
