This movie was my first foray into Bollywood and it was interesting to say the least. Take equal parts of Beach Party Bingo and a cheesy TV commercial for instant coffee – now add the singing and dancing from a low budget stage production of Westside Story – throw in a few fight scenes from a 1960’s Batman movie – add the fanfare of a Vincent Price horror flick to the Enrique-Iglesias-like sound track – wrap the whole thing around a remake of Romeo and Juliet set in modern-day India – and you might begin to comprehend how this corny love story is put together. It is over-the-top-ridiculous and yet oddly compelling. For whatever reason, I was unable to stop watching this movie, maybe because I was honestly amused by the outrageous script and soap-opera style direction, or maybe it was because I just kept hoping it would end. If you’ve never experienced India cinema this is as good a place to start as any.

This movie is one of Bollywood's best. The acting was great. The movie was so romantic and the music was great.
